1988 GT Performer
Hot Pink GT performer.
This was a gem i found in a thrift store then later sold to a bike shop to be a display piece.
pretty much bone stock except the mks pedals.

Re: 1988 GT Performer
when I was a kid, my parents wouldn't buy me a freestyle bike. I take that back, they bought me a huffy freestyle, which technically was my 2nd bike. My first bike turns out, was a girls bike. It was blue, but the top tube dipped down, which made it a girls bike. I realized this later after I knew more about bikes.
I never liked skateboarding, nor was I good at it. But I had a very strong desire for a REAL freestyle bike. The Desire never left, it survived in me for years. I took one of those little paper envelopes you get your money from the bank teller in, and glued a picture of a GT Vertigo that I cut out from the GT catalog onto it. I saved up every cent I could find, for months. To this day, that was the most responsible I have ever been about saving money, I was determined. After about 4 months, I realized I would never be able to afford the new GT vertigo pictured on my envelope. Thats when I found a hot pink GT performer like the one above. A friends friend had it disgarded in his garage, halfway disassembled and broken. I bought it, and fixed it myself. I learned how to build a bike, and I learned how to ride my first REAL freestyle bike.
Ill always remember the solid feeling of the bike. The confidence it provided while doing tricks. The bike also taught me many life lessons. I learned how to save money, and fix bicycles. I rode the performer for some time, then eventually I finally got a new GT Vertigo. I took my first job in a bicycle store, where I sank most of my paychecks into building this-

Thats my story.

Re: 1988 GT Performer
thats a hot lil hoffman.
I remeber the first time I saw hoffman. Was at State Fair of Texas. Psrocket Jockeys tour. DMC, Mirra And hoffman all in one show/demo. Thats when I wanted to get into freestyle.

Re: 1988 GT Performer
Nice, I have same bike all original except tires and grips. I've been hanging on to this bad boy for a long time. Now I'm going to try and find a nice blue 87 project bike for winter.
