Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
I actually won an auction about 2 years ago for an 87 GT Performer. The seller never responded to emails then became unregistered so my Performer days were over. Not a lot of them down under either.

What a bummer man! I've only been burned 2 times out of hundreds of Ebay transactions, but it was for $2,000!! EEEKK!! I felt personally violated.. like the kind prison inmates feel at night *L*

Phil Wood, AWESOME bikes! Are you sure the red one is a 1989? In 1987 they switched to the "S" down tube. It definitely has the 89 graphics, but I think the frame is a 1986 model. I have the dayglow pink 87 pft, just like the one in your picture, since that year. There really is no comparison to GT in general when it comes to freestyle bikes, but they really out-did themselves that year. Remember the dayglow orange? They discontinued it within the first year of production, I think before it even hit the market. I really wanted it, but settled for the pink. Those are my favorite style gt mags as well. That purple 86 is a close second...but only in purple.

Pro Performers and PFTs had the double bend, regular performers still had the single bend up until 1990..

LOL!!
Not too much. I've been wanting to ride the river trail though. I see all the riders going through there when I'm at the Dam doing repairs. And I've heard it'll take you all the way to the beach! I don't know if I'm conditioned enough to take such a long ride. You don't ride that far on your BMX bike, do you???

Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
I think the Performers all have different valus. The 84/85s are the most collectable but the 86s have a better standing platform.
The best GT freestyle bike made before the ownership changes was the 94 PFTT. After that the 99/2000 Show is sick, those are the most solid built but the best collectable has got to be the 84. It is one of the few bikes I have that I would not ever get rid of. Im almost finished Im just waiting for the matching grips and im gonna paint the disk blue too.
Can you ever really have enough GT's?

I started out with an 83-84 white GT performer. Hated it. Just not nice to ride.I bent the frame in like a month.Thank god for warranties when your 13 and broke, 'cause I took it back and got a TrickStar. That was a bike.
Huh, howd you brake a 4130 Performer and not brake that Trickstar??

Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
I know exactly how. When I got the Performer I was just getting interested in freestyle stuff. Prior to that my friends and I stayed in the dirt and were always building bigger and not so better ramps to jump. Anyway, one nice day I was jumping the Performer and I decided to go for every style point. I ended up landing the bike VERY hard and VERY wrong completely bending the rear fork and cracking my a$$ badly at the same time. Being a halfway(only just) smart kid, when I got the Hutch I stuck to the pavement. You have to know my folks didn't buy me these bikes, I did. I cut a lot of lawns and other stuff to get them. So when I bent the GT, I was in no hurry to make the same mistake twice.

if you want to ride that far get a road bike, our classic freestyle bike are uncomfortable for our age to ride.
