Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
Hey Guys.. My friends and I have a feud going about new school versus old school GT freestyle bikes. Of course I'm an old school freak and I think the 1987 Pro Performer/PFT was the best freestyle model ever. The newer Performers may be functional for flatland and ramps, but I think they are EXTREMELY boring looking. So I want to run a quick poll for everyone who has either owned or riden a GT Performer of any year.
What year (Pre-1995) was the best looking GT Performer?
Second best (Pre-1995)?
What year (Post-1995) was the best looking GT Performer?
Second best (Post-1995)?
What year (Pre-1995) was the best built GT Performer (components)?
What year (Post-1995) was the best built GT Performer (components)?
What year Performer have you had the hardest time trying to find/rebuild?
What is your opinion of GT bicycles since the ownership change?
Did you own a GT Performer, PP, PFT, WT, PT, or PT2 in the 80's - 90's - 2000's?
Do you own a GT Performer, PP, PFT, WT , PT, or PT2 now? What year?
Please post a picture of your GT!!

Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
SORRY the new ones are LAME looking and for a completly differnt world, the thing about an 85 86 ppf is you COULD actually dirt ride with it, and heck they rode great, a buddy even raced his, stock! but its like asking if a 07 z06 is cooler than a 69 big block two different animals.

Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
1) (Pre-1995) Firstly the best looking for me, was the 1987 Pro Performer and secondly the 1991-1993 Performer.
2) (Post-1995) Firstly the 1998 Pro Performer and secondly the 1995-1996 Performer.
7) I used to own a 1993 Performer for a while (i borrowed it from a friend), a 1998 Pro Performer and then a 2000 Tour 2
8)Right now i have a 1998 PFT and a 2000 PFT is on the way.
Personally i love more the ones with the threadless headset, more strength and durability.
But i would love to have the 1987 & 1991-1993 PFT...

Caleb, your's are very nice indeed, some of the early Fiola performers were cool, the basic black, white or yellow.

caleb_k21: Your PP's look fantastic.. I'm currently building a Black '87 PFT Team Model for myself and a White '87 PP for my wife.. I hope it turns out half as good as your white one. What kind of brake levers did you use for that bike? How come you didn't name the chrome one as a PFT, aside from the chainwheel it looks pretty much like one.

the white one is mostly original, the levers are the original odyssey RX-3.. that bike is lke MINT... the chrome one i got from my cousin who had it when we were kids, its rechromed and all NOS. the original stickers were not on it but it has NO FS in the serial so i stuck with the pro performer decals and i built it to my likeing....

Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
I gotta go with the mob on this one - the 83-85 - whatever the first run ones were - I know a dude that rode that over so many other bikes - he'd pass on anything to ride that old GT. The frame I'm thinking of (an 84 or 85 - lt. blue w/red tuffs orig.) went thru like 6-8 of my friends,,, I had it twice, once it was yellow and once black, I sold it to a dude in GER, he's prolly over there pimping on it right now.
I was just thinking - same dude I know rides a 1990 (?) hardtail GT MTB frame of some kind - no shocks no gears cruizer style. heh.

Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
In my humble opinion:
1-Performer 1988 (any color), then performer 1992 (the yellow with black slashes)
2-absolutely no one
3-for me, the ´87 and '88, because has the most notorious parts of the year
4-no comments
5-I don´t rebuild no other before´88, but is sure the 85-86 are the hardest
6-was a BIG mistake, the new management dropdown the value of GT, never was the same, never will be
7-I always want the 92 yellow with black perfomer, sadly never owned it
8- I´m the proud owner of a 1988 Pro Performer
sorry for the bad quality pic, I´m plannig a better photo session until finishing to restore it

Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
Phil Wood.. I'm so jealous of all those GT's.. They look great, is that red frame a 1989? The decal designs on that frame are pretty sweet. I wish they still took that kind of time in the style of the newer models.

Re: Online Poll -- Best GT Performer ever
Thanks Slicer, yes the red one is an 89 Vertigo. As for the poll, I guess 87-88 were my favorites. I had a blue 87 pft that was stolen when I was a kid. I would really like to find a nice survivor just like it someday. You guys have some very cool rides as well!
