1983 SE Racing Quadangle
1983 SE Racing Quadangle
My first post on BMXMeuseum
This was the first bike i posted back in 2009. this 1 as well as my 86 Ripper mean more to me then any other bike in my collection. Back in 96 this was gifted to me by my brother before he got out of the bike scene. After a few years i intended to clean it up and finish where he left off. the bike was neglected for several years and in 2009 i realised some parts were misplaced. I borrowed some parts off my pk to take the pics back then which are the last 2 pics as of 2009. Due to work and family i been out of the bike scene as well for about 10 years. Nov 2021 i decided to rebuild this bike with all the parts that my brother had on it before i originally took it apart and not borrowing parts from other bikes. I have the original frame fork wheels tires stem and brakes. He was very happy to see his old bike again on thanksgiving. heres a brake down of whats on it now.

Cool looking rider. The serial number should be able to give you a definite year.
I really like bikes!!!

Re: 1983 SE Racing Quadangle
The serial number for these quads is located on the outside of the rear dropout, crank side.
The serial should have '83' or '84' etc in it......that is unless the serial was grounded off!
My best guess is a 1983 model.. Dave

Re: 1983 SE Racing Quadangle
hay thanks for the tip. you were right serial number said its an 83. I also have an old school pk ripper not looptail with the seat clamp intergrated into the seat tube. cant see the number on it since it was powder coated. i have to redo the paint anyway so after i strip it ill be able to read the number. over 15 years ago i had the ripper painted and bought a nos sticker pack for it i wanted to redo it but cant find the original stickers anywhere. anyone know where i can get nos or very good repro pk stickers? and maybe someone in southern cali that repairs aluminum frames. previous owner did a number to the rear dropouts and i use huge washers in order to mount the wheel

Re: 1983 SE Racing Quadangle
Love the twist lace. Back when I worked at ron's I worked with a guy named Mike Martin that ran another shop in town back in the late 70s early 80s and he would twist lace wheels like that. He said he started doing it in the 70s. He claimed that it made the wheels stronger. We laced up a lot of wheels like that for local racers. I don't ever remember having to
true any of them again. His kid had an ELF mini with a twist lace on the rear and a radial lace on the front. Very cool bike!!!
BMX MUSEUM is not a contest to see who has more bmx knowledge. It's a place to share it.

Re: 1983 SE Racing Quadangle
isnt it strange that more then 1 person can come up with the same awesome idea without ever being influenced by the other. ill admit given the timelines of others claims to have done this before me, i never seen it or been told about it when i decided to do it myself. just like how i drew up several frame designs and the concept for the odyssey xtro fork way before they were produced.
