1991 Dirt Brothers Industries

Finally

I lived in San Diego for about a year from 1990-1991 and rode Mission Trails just about every single day.  Pete Augustin, Brad Blanchard, Ronnie Farmer and Kaarlos Wik were always there and occasionally Eddie Roman would show up all rocking the Dirt Bros framesets.  On my 18th birthday in 1991 the KOD was held at Mission Trails  and During warm-ups i wound up bending  my bars,  Matt Hoffman was there for the competition and was cool enough to give me a set of patriot bars,  also  there was Vic Murphy and when i asked him about getting  a DBI kit he told me they had all either been sold or given away. I recently got back in touch with Vic and he hooked me up with the  frame graphics and from there it was just a matter of time before i built one of my own
   PARTS LIST:
* Skyway T/A XL frame ( original decal art provided by Vic Murphy)
* Redline Taper fork
* Hoffman Patriot bars (given to me by Hoffman himself)
* TNT stem (my favorite stem from bitd)
* MX seat
* Indy Industries seatpost
* Tuf Neck clamp
* Redline Flite Cranks
* Tuf Neck power disc and chainring
* Peregrine Sealed 48's
* Ukai HP 48's
* Tioga Comp III 20X2.25

A real tribute to the 2nd life of these bikes.

The campy hubs actually look awesome on there too.

Re: 1991 Dirt Brothers Industries

the bars are Hoffman Patriot bars... Matt Hoffman, the man himself gave them to me at the 2hip King Of Dirt contest at mission trails in 1991

Re: 1991 Dirt Brothers Industries

The DIRT BROTHERS was a company that Vic Murphy started in 1990 based out of San Diego, Ca. They bought the remaining inventory of SKYWAY T/A's and put REDLINE taper forks on them, put their own decals on and sold it as the DIRT BROS frameset.

Re: 1991 Dirt Brothers Industries

Damn Jay, thats a sweet ride.  Classic looking :cool:  I thought there was a tie in to the Dirt Bros and Skyway just by the looks of it, didn't know the actual history behind it.  Great job, what happened to the campy's?

Lookin for:  9/16" DX's in gold rougher the better...  Dirtbike with standing platform, Menstrual cycles decals...  Need one Blue anno Ukai speedline shinny side rider condish and straight.

Re: 1991 Dirt Brothers Industries

The campys were actually my OG wheels from 20 years ago when i had a GHP (that i am hoping to rebuild) the DBI crew mainly rode peregrine wheels and sometimes used a skyway mag in the front.

KILLER!!    One of my fave bikes on this site. Vic didn't buy all of the leftover TAs, I bought 6? (still have 3 84XLs) and my buddy bought a few too (since sold). There were some left after us. This was 1992.

Re: 1991 Dirt Brothers Industries

Looks like Flag's bike from circa '95...

...Anyone remember Flag from Scum Clothing vids like 1201 and Lights Out?

He was crazy street riding back then. 180's off of HUGE gaps rolling out fakie.

That was Brad Blanchard. I never heard if he landed it or not but it almost defies description. He would flip the bike lengthwise and try and catch it mid air and jump back on. Brad was always one of my favourite riders to watch, you never knew what he would do
