Re: 1982 Kuwahara 24

Its flat near rear dropout on inside so you don't get chain rub. Similar to early Supergooses.
I don't know the technical name for this.
Sorry.

I thought the top tube length on those frames looked short. Wow, 18.5" is 20" Pro size. I bet that bike feels like a tall 20".

Sweet rides Ginge & Catspat. I just picked up an '82 24" Kuwi f&f & was toying with the idea of using graphite Tuffs in the build. Seeing yours has convinced me to go with them Ginge.Cheers.

Re: 1982 Kuwahara 24

Nice !! tongue   cool

T2x? is the month.

Must be an early '83, second Gen 24.
It has the 1st Gen Handlebars, TRX forks, and black cranks.
Some components of the 1st Gen 24 build package. Some from the 2nd Gen build package.

I like!!!!

It shows the conversion from 1st Gen to 2nd Gen.

Thanks for the picture!!!!!! Love to see more!!  big_smile

Re: 1982 Kuwahara 24

Maybe a little late in the piece to find this, but, here's a breakdown to explain the serial number confusion and confirming the bike as a legit Kuwahara.

Factory Kuwaharas were made in Japan by a few different companies like Tange and Koizumi.
Here is a breakdown of the serial numbers found on Kuwahara frame sets and forks between 1979 and 1985.

Tange Made Frame Serial Numbers
Found on KZ, Laserlite, Surivivor, Nova, KYZ, E.T., KM-1 and 24 models
1979 - 1983
Stamped: T1A0001 (underside of bottom bracket)
T = Tange / 1 = 1981 / A = Month / 0001 = Unit # produced of the month
Ex. T3J1340 = The 1,340th frame made by Tange in October of 1983
Ex. T9K1576 =  The 1,576th frame made by Tange in November of 1979
