1981 Mongoose Supergoose
1981 Mongoose Supergoose
My childhood favorite!
My August 81 Supergoose.
Have a look at www.osbmxdb.com (my crappy personal build site) for more before and after images.
* 81 Supergoose frame and forks - polished and rechromed
* Araya 7x (NOS)
* Shimano DX hubs (NOS)
* Chrome double butted spokes
* Rainbow label Comp III's (NOS)
* Polished and re-chromed Mongoose 180mm cranks
* Mongoose headset and BB (re-chromed)
* Red DX pedals (NOS) - haven't updated the pic
* DX seat post - polished with new stickers by Formula1
* Elina lightning bolt seat
* Oakley 3 grips (NOS)
* Diacompe MX 1000 calipers and matching Diacompe Haro style lever
* Diacompe brake cable
* Redline Proline v bars (re-chromed)
* Redline Brute stem (polished)
* California Lite Johar padset
* Sugino power disk (polished)
* Sugino chainring pins
* Sugino chainring (NOS)
* Izumi chain (NOS)
* Diacompe seat clamp - the only thing I want to change - anybody want to swap a NOS Suntour seat clamp ;-)
The bits that have been polished were only done as they were not in great shape when I got them. Not my personal preference.
This bike is almost identical to the one I was riding BITD.
Any other OS Whyalla riders out there?

That chrome looks better than a mirror! Excellent base for a quality build. Have a look at my supergoose for some inspiration

Cool website Carl! Nice work... Very nice Goose too! I have a Nickel '79 Supergoose. One of my favorite frames... It's not built era-correct and is pretty much my custom design but it's one of the best bikes I own... Supergooses RULE!!!
Oh yeah, the chrome frame set posted here by RUNTIME looks really sweet... Excellent work bro! SUPERGOOSES ROCK! Except for the finishes, they are exactly the same as a team but a little more umm... SUPER!

A "Squonk" is like a Mongoose only much harder to find...

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I am pretty happy with it so far. Will post pics of the build. Thinking of building a site like Carl's for people doing the same thing.

Cost me $425 AUS to get the frame, forks and headset done. They spent a lot of time polishing
