1975 Mongoose Motomag
1975 Mongoose Motomag
My absolute favorite bike...
This is my "Holy Grail" 1975 "Long" Mongoose in original Nickel, with original '75 forks and factory issued original decals. Everything else on it is pretty much NOS era-correct for '75. The Simi Motomag 1's are in nearly perfect original condition and the NOS "Lucky 7" Schwinn sprocket is a replacement of the same one that originally came on this bike. With nice low gearing and classic Mongoose handling, this thing is fast and rides like a dream...

No Dave. That term came out in the 80's to describe a different version. These were only ever described as a "Mongoose". A 1975 "Mongoose" either had "Motomag" wheels on it or it did not.

Re: 1975 Mongoose Motomag
It did originally have a Motomag sticker on the downtube.

Re: 1975 Mongoose Motomag
Funny story on those decals...
When my Dad and I put together the first Mongoose I had back in 1976, I remember looking at the "Motomag" stickers and being totally baffled... I had no idea where to stick them on the actual Motomags!
Then after looking at some pictures of a complete bike, I said, "Dad, they go on the frame."
He said, "I wouldn't put them on son. They take away from the beauty of the Nickel finish and they don't match the other ones."
So, we chucked em' in the trash!
To this day, I still don't like them on a frame. None of my "Mongoose" have them. But, that's just me... And my old man. (RIP Jack)
