Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

Wow! That turned out great! wink

I was waiting to see how it would look! The blue accents are very cool but my favorite part is how you saved those original decals... That was very smart. Probably the hardest thing to find for any older Mongoose build these days...

Your little one sure has good taste in bikes and a very cool Pappy!

Well done!

A "Squonk" is like a Mongoose only much harder to find...

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

Thanks bro! And thanks for answering any questions I had without hesitation. cool

She was very happy with the goose. It provided her with the inspiration to finally try riding on two wheels, totally on her own. After about 1.5 hrs, she's riding along pretty good. It was a fun build. It's much nicer whe you have most of the parts there and only have to work on cleaning them up.

(by the way drummer, I was just coming to the bike page to send you a link to let you know it was done and in the museum, how funny is that smile)

Thanks, bro. The other build is chugging along perfectly. In fact, I will probably be putting it all together in a matter of days. I'm looking forward to seeing it all together.

I started with an 81 survivor on it, but the chrome on the frame was toasted. So, I found a 78 frame, and the parts will be going on it. Just got done refurbing the things that needed attention. Now I just have to finish waxing everything, and assmeble it.

Keep an eye out for it, it should be too long. big_smile

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

That's cool that your daugher is on this one.  My 7 year old is riding this goose.  http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/mongoose/23497

Of course, I pull the bars back & put on the low seat.  We also have the ACS freecoaster, can,t quite get that hand brake...

Good looking goose! cool I'm actually trying to put together another goose soon, with left over parts. I'm just shy a few items, but will eventually get it built. It's an 81 goose frame.

But for now, here are a few pics of the 78 & 79 together. cool

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

Thanks, Bro! I had a lot of fun restoring them, and the girls love them. We ride most every evening, even if it's just a short ride. With any luck the 81 will turn out just as nice. big_smile

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

Thank you! My little one was all ready to ride it in her first bike rodeo yesterday, but it was canceled due to rain. That was the second time it got canceled, so I think they just canceled it for the year. It's too bad too, she was really looking forward to trying to win, and couldn't wait to show all her friends her old school goose. Guess we'll have to see about next year.

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

Tx, you're killin' me with those bikes! Awesome! I'm working on my first bike, a 79 Goose, for my son's 8th Bday next week  http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=335030
You have set the bar very high my friend.  I better step up my game.  I may have to hit you up for some advice as I try to finish up by next Tuesday!

Thanks a bunch, Bro. This is how the bike looked when I got it.

She stills loves it and rides it all the time.
