If you saw it in person, you wouldn't want it. Chainstays are all beat up, dropouts beat up. I rode this thing hard on street and trails for a couple of years.

Re: S&M hoarders unite

I just won my first S&M over this weekend....
So it should be here with in the next week or 2 .....

I purchased a 1999 S&M Dirtbike .... I really dont know much about these bikes , i wanted a street beater bike , and wanted something USA made , so i went with this ...

I paid $300 shipped , not sure if that was fair but would like to hear other s&m guys opinions ?

Re: S&M hoarders unite

Yep, you got a good deal. You can beat on that bike all you want and it will take it. Look's like a great set up for street or zip down and hit some trails.

Re: S&M hoarders unite

I figured since it had some good parts i could not go wrong .....

This was the discription ....

S&M Dirt Bike, S&M Slam Bars, S&M Redneck stem, Profile cranks, Kink Pegs (2), Araya rims, Gyro, Primo seat and post, sweet classic ride, hardly used, barely a scratch on it ....

I will probably put some wheels 14mm rear 3/8 front .....and i would want smaller gearing ... i like that look ....

Does anyone know if  profile hubs come 14mm rear ?

Re: S&M hoarders unite

Ohhh , the frame is slotted for 3/8 huh , didnt think of that .....

Why could i not go smaller ? Its just a sproket and cog correct , why would it not work ?

Re: S&M hoarders unite

Nice score!

I don't think you'll be able to go with a small sprocket because of the brake clearance... but doesn't look like you'll need to change anything on the bike anyways. I'd keep the wheels too... they'll do the job!

Re: S&M hoarders unite

Hmmmm i did not think it was a score .... I knew it was a fair price considering what they bring new and the caliber parts on it ....

Just wanted a USA made bike with decent parts to beat on in the street ....since my rider is my bitchin camaro with carbon forks /etc..

Anyhow so the reason the smaller chainring will not work is it will hit the Brakes huh ?

What if i went brakeless then i should be in the clear correct ? Not sayin i would just curious ...this is new to me !

It may clear. You may have to cut the brake mounts off though. Would be a shame to do it to that frame though.

Re: S&M hoarders unite

You could get some low profile brakes and you might be able to use a 33T on the front

Re: S&M hoarders unite

Yeah I wouldn't screw with that bike at all... it's actually kind of a classic S&M now, being a 3/8" dropout bike... I'd ride it just like it is.

Lowest you can go is 11-30

Cool , The hubs are missmatched redline rear and no name front , so i will build some wheels , profile hubs and a profile chainring and be set  .......

Did s&m ever make hubs ?

Can't go wrong with Profile hubs. If those Sun BFR's are straight, they are awesome rims!
