1977 DG Steve Skibel Replica

The beginning of the weight-conscious, 'mini'-type bikes for younger riders.

In the Spring of this year, I picked up this frameset at a swap meet. It was stripped of it's original finish and spray painted black. I thought it would be fun to try to do a lightweight 1970's mini project using tips and tricks from the old magazines of the day (and with the help of some 1970's gurus on OS-BMX). Other than the painted frameset, everything is original finish.

FRAME: 1977 DG Steve Skibel Replica model. Serial Number DG 677 861 Painted (not powder) in DG yellow

SEAT CLAMP: is actually the end portion of an era correct SR road bike stem. Cut off, sanded down, and smoothed out. Very light.

Re: 1977 DG Steve Skibel Replica

KIW- that DG is amazing.. I have my 77' getting some color and can't wait to get it back.. Funny, I was going with the race theme as well. Have some Gold Ukia 1 1/8th going on it. Very nice job, I copied a pic of this for my DG file.. :D

Hey KIW the Skibel looks awesome! Any info on paint codes that you used to match frame/fork colors?

Always looking for Cook Bros. stuff, vintage SE stuff,  MCS 6 bolt Super stems,  and Race Inc. Leading Edge/Cycle Pro/BMX innovations 20" forks.  All NOS or in very nice condition.
