2011 Standard Bykes Rick Star 24
Hutch Trickstar and GT Performer Hybrid, sized up to a 24" for a Texas sized man Winner of 2nd place @ Dallas Vintage Show where it was signed by Woody Itson
The Hutch Trickstar is my favorite frame design of all time, next to the GT Performer of course. I missed out on the Knight Gt 24" Performer which hurt, so I figured why not do one just for me.
After careful deliberation I came up with this gem. The back end (looptail, standing platform, and coaster brake mount) of a Hutch Trickstar, and the front end (kinked downtube) of a GT Performer.
I have a fetish for looptails and I thought it would be cool to do the GT Performer with a looptail, but I figured while I am at that, I might as well do the entire back end of a Trickstar since it was also one of my favorite bikes.
So I called up Standard Bykes finding out that they have a great custom shop and Rick and Jesse went right to work. Rick said this was one of the most challenging bikes he has ever done and took by far the longest to make. After 6 months it was finally finished and here it is.
I designed the decals myself, and had the seat made by Retro BMX
I always like GT's Green that they used and know that Hutch did several Candy colors so I thought that Candy Green would be a good medium.
After that I wanted the whole bike to be Green, White, and Black.
