1984 SE Racing Quadangle

The first year of the newer style rear dropouts I think. One year after the the loop tail. Certainly one of the most unique looking frames of its time & even now like functional art.

I got this as a gift for my 9th birthday, I'm 41 now. It was somehow lost in the shuffle of my life, either traded or given away back then ? A couple of years ago my best friend ended his life tragically. At his funeral I saw people I hadn't seen in 25yrs. One of them was the guy that had my Quadangle. His words to me were: "I kept it for you all of these years knowing I would run into you again but sorry it had to be here..."
When I got it back it was in terrible shape. Spray bombed like 5 different times in every color you can imagine, a sin really. I began the process by sand blasting all of the paint off down to bare metal & of course I didn't take any pictures..There were no cracks or dents somehow like a true diamond in the very rough...Once complete I sealed & primed the bike in neutral gray. I own a body shop so I used only the best materials for this. I then worked on getting the original dark blue formula SE used on this when it was made. Thru many hours of research & scouring color charts I had it right. We used a durable clear coat on top of that & the results were really impressive. It looked as it did when I brought it home for the first time as a kid.
For the build I spared no expense and probably spent way more than I should have. I wanted to use only the best parts that could be had and as much NOS as possible. I didn't keep it totally in the period but its very close. The only newer things I used was a Chris King headset & Profile retro cranks. Other than that its period correct for its time & super light as a bonus.
