1965 Schwinn Stingray
Schwinn Stingray frame, with a Tuff I in the rear, and a Tuff II in front. Schwinn Scrambler fork, silver Schwinn Crank and Neck, original Schwinn bars powder coated blue. Waffle grip and seat re-pops
I got my Son Zac a 2008 limited edition PK Ripper, and didnt like the rims, and since I am a Mag guy, I got him some new Tuff II's on the Ripper and traded off the stock Ripper rims to a guy for this StingRay frame. My friends at the Local Maaco do frames for $25, so I had it done in gloss black, and built it up with a Tuff I in the rear, and a Tuff II in the front. I built a 26" version of this bike as a big cruiser, and this is the little version for my son, for our cruiser days. As for the front sprocket... I have been reading that the original scrambler front sprockets were inner / smaller sprockets that were used on the Schwinn Varsity, and the chain-ring / chain guard, so that is the sprocket, I just need to add the chainguard. This was just a fun build, but will be cool with it's "Big Brother" the Schwinn Cruiser 5 I have built. I have some cruiser bars to add to this to match up with the Cruiser 5, but I have get them done blue to match.
