1988 Schwinn Predator Scrambler
A shoestring budget-built, late 80's low-end Predator-turned-flatland-funmobile for *JUGGARNAUT'S Flatland Buildoff*! Enough hyphens for ya?!
I picked up this '88 Predator Scrambler frameset for a good deal just in time to enter and build it for *JUGGARNAUT'S Flatland Buildoff*
I used mostly leftover parts from other builds and some smalls sourced from BMX Museum members to keep this thing CHEAP!
1988 Schwinn Predator Scrambler frame & fork (survivor paint/decals)
Schwinn headset w/ rotor cup (from my headset stash)
Pyramid Accessories freestyle/rotor stem (a rejected stem from my 87 FreeForm EX calendar build-off build)
Columbia Freestyle platform handlebars (these were on my cracked Hustler Pro frame I sold. I bought these bars from Shazambmx what seems like ages ago now)
Columbia Big Boss "Cauliflower" rotor (from Cru_is_Rad)
DiaCompe Tech 77 levers (from GrinchPIB)
A'Me Round grips (they were on the bars)
MX hinged seat post clamp (also from the Hustler Pro build)
GT layback seat post (I wish I could remember who gave this to me)
Unknown plastic BMX seat (Viscount? Idk. Another thing that's been around so long I don't know where I got it)
Alona MX rear brake (from the Hustler Pro)
Power Bulldog copy front brake (another reject from the FreeForm EX)
NOS 80's cable housing (also leftovers from FreeForm EX)
Unknown 87 stamped one piece crank 165mm (crusty)
Haro 43t chainwheel (recently pulled off of my 87 FST)
Generic bottom bracket (from BB stash)
Unknown MKS knock-off pedals (bought from bmxdad69 a while back, these were on the Hustler Pro)
KMC S1 chain (actually cobbled together from leftovers of two or three other KMC S1 chains)
Unknown Araya-style 48's w/ 16t YCC coaster converted to freecoaster (rejects from my FreeForm EX build, gifted to me by an old coworker)
Team Cycle (I think?) pegs (from Cru_is_Rad)
Panaracer HP406 20x1.75 tires (they were on the wheels)
Dice valve stem caps
Honestly, for looking like a janky junker, it feels pretty solid and rides, surprisingly, very nicely for old-school freestyle flatland type stuff.
