2020 Schwinn Scrambler
The worlds first 2020 - 125th Anniversary Scrambler Tribute because Life is Just a Fantasy!
In 2020, Schwinn released a series of Sting Rays for their 125th anniversary to pay tribute to their history but what about their BMX history? BMX started with modified Sting Rays which led to the production of the first Schwinn Scrambler and if Schwinn were to release such a bike, what would it look like? The answer is right here.
With the exception of 3 parts, this bike is built from entirely brand new parts. Handlebars, sprocket, and front hubs are the only parts not made in 2020 due to necessity.
This build started with a brand new 2020 Sting Ray. What was modified and replaced? To become a Scrambler, the forks, chain guard, fender and stem were stripped and powder coated. The stem was powdered with a textured finish to look similar to the old Ashtabula stems. Seat is the stock Stingray seat that was re-finished and Schwinn Logo added. Wheels, grips, tires, pedals, handlebars, and front sprocket were replaced. Another feature to this bike that made it a great candidate is the extra weld (just like the OG Scramblers). You can see this is the last photo.
New reproduction Scrambler decals were added to complete this fantasy build.
