1979 Redline Proline

1979 Redline Proline

This is a clone of a bike I had as a teen. I lent it to a cousin of mine back in 1995, and he pawned it. Fast forward to now, and '79-'80 Prolines are not easy to find, and they can be pricey. I posted several adds on the BMX Museum looking for a Proline frame and team fork, Cook Bros. handlebars, a blue square corner Tuff neck stem and a black Uni-seat. The bars, seat and stem were fairly easy to find, but the frame and fork were not as easy. A member messaged me about a frame and fork he had with a stuck seat post and a stuck Pro neck stem. The frame also had severe damage and approximately 10 dings and large dents from someone trying to remove the stuck stem and seat post. He sold me everything for $125.00 shipping included. I had to set the frame up in a milling machine to machine the stuck seat post out. A friend of mine who is a master metal fabricator drilled holes opposite the dents and dings and massaged the dents out and welded up the holes. You cannot tell that there were ever any dents in the frame.
