1981 Mongoose Supergoose
True survivor, also my daily rider!
This is my bike from when I was a kid. I bought it when I was 13 from a kid in Rochester,MN for 165.00. Rode it until I was about 20 then it went in the shed. I dug it out about 5 years ago and the Mongoose obsession was born! A few of the parts have been changed along the way, but for the most part it is as it was when I was a kid! The tires are the original Mongoose stamped snakebellies that came on the bike. I'm amazed how well they have held up over the years. They are getting dry and the letters have long since fallen off but I wouldn't change them for anything!!! Lot of memories on those tires. I'm glad we have the BMX Museum to document how many of these awesome old bikes have been saved from the scrapyard! These bikes are our youth, MINE and YOURS! I don't see a bike when I look at this thing. I see my buddies, some still here, some not. I see the beach that we rode to everyday in the summer, and smell the coconut sun tan oil on the first girl I kissed! I can still here those snakebellies humming down a wet asphalt rode! So this one is for all you guys that go out in your garage, and put your hand on an old tire, close your eyes and remember when you were young. Your not alone!
