1979 Team Mongoose

This is a tribute to my friend Scotts bike that he bought new , and got to pick all the individual parts out for in 1981. We both bought our new Mongooses around the same time. He got his from Chain Reaction Bicycles in Redwood City Ca. , and I got mine down the road at Redwood cyclery. He got his first. The last pic is of the original bike the day he brought it home! I always loved his bike , though we had different tastes in colors at the time. I decided to build this as a tribute to him and us in the good ol days! Its identical to the original bike except for the Tange re-issue headset instead of the chrome stamped mongoose headset his bike originally had ,and the brand of tires. Also , the original had Shimano 600 cranks , but he shortly after switched them to the maxy cross 170 MM.  I have also built a replica of my bike as well out of ALL NOS parts that I will post soon  As for this bike, it took a long time to gather the parts to build it as I try to use only NOS stuff. My first addition to the Museum! Thanks for looking!
