1988 GT Pro Freestyle Tour
An exact replica of my all black 88 PFT!
I got this frame/fork/bars/post from a local friend and it was stickered up as an 87 PFT Team Model. I decided to use this as a platform for replicating my 88 PFT and started by removing all the stickers from the frame and fork and bars. Next, I spent some time locating specific parts to match what I had back in the day - a lot of time! I wanted it to be as nice as possible so this bike was built with a mixture of NOS parts, some restored parts and some really nice survivor parts. The 87 GT Wing seat, the silver 87 stamped GT Mallet stem and the 88 stamped GT Power Series 3 piece cranks are all nice survivor parts as are the 86 GT Wing Seat Post Clamp and the polished Dia Compe front Nippon brake. As far as NOS parts, there is quite a bit - SR MTP-100 sealed bearing pedals, Dia Compe AD992 rear U-brake, GT Superlace/Ukai Speedline wheelset, and GT 20x1.75 Black and Tan freestyle tires. Restored parts include the C4 Labs powder coated frame, fork, bars and Robinson seat post as well as the frame and fork standers and the Dia Compe Tech 7 levers. All in all, I tried to make this bike look JUST like the original. Also, and not incidentally, the yellow and blue Dyno D-12 pants in the one picture are the EXACT ones that I was wearing in the pictures that I included as references. I love having all these old pictures around to build from! What's even better is that not only can I look at it both in pictures and in person, I can even ride it again!
