2010 GT Power Series Ultrabox 2

Opinion-dividing if not iconic, carbon racer!

Love it or hate it, the Ultrabox 2 certainly has a distinctive look. This one’s an interesting bike for sure. Based on a 2010 frame, the third and final year of UB2 production, it has a real mixed bag of components. It came with a padded touring seat and assorted accessories (cyclocomputer, drinks-holder, lights and lock - all quickly removed) but also some decent race parts, some road cranks and some mtb parts! Judging by the marks on everything, the bike has been well-used, presumably on the race track, at least in the early years of its life. It then passed hands and out of the race scene, where it was used for cruising around on until the last owner decided to sell it. Which is where I stepped in!

Current plans are to break the bike down, clean it all up then take it to the track. If it’s too short and/or stiff for my liking, then I may have to have a re-think but if not, I can start to decide what parts to keep and what to swap out. Some of the mtb stuff will probably stay on there but I’m really not sure about that Rotor crankset or the Chromag bashguard! On the plus side, they’re certainly something you don’t see everyday, which I guess is in keeping with the frame! In any case, I love it! Here's a run-down of the parts, which I’ll update as I go along. Enjoy!
