1989 GT Vertigo
Customized from a recent purchase of a chrome F/F with mix-match parts
Instantly became one of my favorite customizations. Not because it reminds me of anything, but for its simplicity. Love the chrome/white look. It's light weight, and it has daily-rider usefulness without worrying too much about damaging OG parts.
Bought from a local guy last summer advertising it as an OG '89 GT Performer. Came with mix-match parts which I basically ended up trashing. My plan was to strip it down and rebuild as an OG GT Performer, but was disappointed after researching to learn that the frame/fork were more Vertigo than Performer, (because of the double-S bottom tube for that year/serial.) Honest mistake, I'm sure. But I learned to research more before my next purchase.
No worries -- it was still a nice f/f to play with. So I decided on a clean chrome/white look, and went to work on getting various components from members here, and from the online sales community. Even bought some killer GT decals -- but I'm liking the clean look too much to decide if I'll ever label it now.
