1997 GT Mach One 24

Mid school with an attempt at an old school look

I bought this as a parts bike for my 98 Pro Series. Did some research and discovered it was a 97 Mach One. Not only did I prefer the older model but the frame itself was in better shape than the 98. So the 98 became the parts bike for this one.

I took both frames into powder because the chrome was so bad on both (plus I didn’t want to take care of chrome). Then I built this one out of the better forks, bars, crank and seat post. The sprocket and seat are GT but purchased separately from a local shop that sells used parts. I replaced the the headset with a blue FSA Orbit MX and the clamp with a generic blue one. The blue brakes came on one of the bikes. The wheels are stock SE.

It took a while but I ordered all the replacement nuts and bolt online. The old ones where rusty or stripped. I picked up new tubes and tires and even bought new brake lines and  pads to make sure it was a solid as possible. It honestly the smoothest bike I have ever ridden. Better than brand new ones. Idk why or how but it came together easily and perfectly.

I ride it almost daily even if it’s a quick one to the liquor store. I’ve had it a short while but I’ve taken it on 3 long rides and it hold up perfectly. That’s all, thanks for looking
