1997 Dyno Compe

HuMpTy DuMpTy Back Together Again

Bought this here as an almost complete for a "cheap" build for my now 6 year daughter.  What arrived was a mis-represented pile of junk with the following issues:

  • Front hub bearings crunchy
  • Rear drops beat up BADLY
  • Forks bent inward and crooked
  • Rusty spokes and rusty cranks
  • Broken teeth on chain wheel
  • Head tube stretched where upper headset cup doesn't stay pressed in
  • Hammer marks and poorly machine polished stem
  • Paint beat up with rust spots where paint is missing

I should have filed a case with PayPal but I decided to build it up any way.  Besides, I should have asked more questions of a newbie seller and should have asked for more pics.  Live and learn.

Here's what I ended up with:

  • 1997 Dyno Compe frame in red and black splatter
  • Replacement rider condition Asiku 97 and Dyno stamped forks, polished at home.
  • Stock headset and bottom bracket
  • Unstamped GT cranks polished at home
  • GT pedals
  • Dyno stamped freestyle bars
  • Dyno inverted stem sanded flat and polished at home
  • Tektro rear brake (came with frame)
  • Bulldog front brake (added)
  • Generic alloy wheels, non-matching, generic free wheel
  • New upper Oryg cable (came with frame)
  • Rider condition lower Oryg cable (came with frame)
  • Refinished seat clamp, brake hardware, Oryg plates, stem hardware
  • Porkchop skinwalls, Potts cable, brake pads, tubes, chain, and black chromo chainwheel bolts
  • Mid-school Mongoose stamped post
  • Daddy-o seat
  • Odyssey levers (new)
  • Eyeball valve caps
  • Powerlite chain wheel and spider
