1994 Diamondback Viper
Mid 1990's Viper, recently refurbished.
This is a mid 1990's Diamond Back "Trail" Viper that was purchased used in 1999. It is a '94 or 95 to the best of my knowledge. Today, the bike is still my son's daily rider - nothing fancy, but a cool ride. The original decals read Diamond Back "Trail Comfort" on the top tube, Viper on the bottom tube, and "Trail" on the forks and rear of the frame - all in plum and light green. When we bought this bike, it was outfitted like a traditional BMX racer, but the rear dropouts are mountain bike style, and the bike is set up for a rear derailleur (sp?). Another member on the museum said he knew a kid that had one like this - set up with bmx components, except a it had a derailleur and 5 speeds.
It has one piece cranks and a one piece black 44T chainwheel (original, I think). Wheels are aluminum, not original. Bulldog / Diacomp brakes (original) - Diamond Back seat collar (original) and Diamond Back stem (used, originally from another D B) - New Odyssey seat, new Wellgo pedals. The last picture is not this bike, but has the same sticker style, except it says Race and not Trail.
