1993 Cycle Craft Pro XXL
Made in the USA.
This bike's life story....
Started life as a hunk of iron that was melted along with 1 percent chromium and 0.2 percent molybdenum. (hence the
nickname "chromoly") You can call me 4130.
The "41" denotes a low alloy steel.
The "30" denotes a carbon content of
0.30 percent. In addition, as normal constituents of plain
carbon and low alloy steels, there will be around 0.2-0.5
percent silicon, 0.5-1.0 percent manganese, and well under
0.1 percent of each of a dozen or so other elements whose
presence is unavoidable, in a few cases deliberate, and
generally not harmful. The remaining 97-98 percent is iron
(Fe).
I was shaped into tubes and then welded together by some guy in Florida... I think his name was Greg or something like that. He did a nice job too, just look at those welds. That was in January 2nd of 1993 if I remember right.
After welding I was sent to the paint shop where I got a nice coat of primer and then 4 coats the nicest deep purple metallic paint you ever saw. I ended up for sale on Craig's list in August of 2009 and was bought by my current owner. He took good care of me and cleaned me up good. Now I have a fresh new paint job and I'm looking better then new.
