1978 CYC Stormer MX
1978 CyC Stormer MX weighing in at a whopping 32lbs 9oz. This is a survivor with a couple of additions, complete with some fat knobbies, Femco rims and a coaster brake to ensure maximum stoppage.
I was hoping to add a 70's BMX to my collection and this 1978 CyC Stormer MX in survivor condition popped up. It has a few little extras like Cali-Lite pads, Tuff Neck seat clamp, Pro Neck 43 chain ring, Tuff Neck power disc, but outside of that it is fairly original. Decals and patina are pretty nice for a 70s survivor. This was a Craigslist find that I owe a thanks to DCBMX and RadArcade for giving me a heads up on. The seller was an awesome guy, so awesome in fact, that he said a TV commercial producer was trying buy the bike out from under me. He mentioned since I responded first I deserved to get it, but that he'd pass my contact information onto the production person. Little did I know, I'd be getting a call from that producer and he offered to rent the bike from me for almost what I paid for it. Yes, I ended getting my 70s BMX for almost nothing! I have since, repacked the wheels and plan on doing the bottom bracket and headset next. The dark photo is a screen shot from the Chase Bank commercial which you can see on air on most national networks (posted 4/2014). Once it is up on Youtube I'll post a link.
Big thanks to Tony1970 for donating goodies for this project!
