2011 Crupi Pro XL
My first new school ride! (now updated)
So having decided to go racing again after 30 years, I thought I should get myself a new school race bike. Having never ridden anything later than an ’87 Haro, it’s fair to say that I didn’t know very much about new school race bikes other than they looked a lot lower and longer than the bikes I was used to. Reading (and starting) various threads and posts on here and elsewhere, I started to narrow down my search for something suitable and after a great deal of deliberation and procrastination, finally ended up with a custom built bike!!! Not my original choice but when the opportunity presented itself, I couldn’t resist!! To cut a long story short, I was offered a deal on NOS from a recently closed-down race shop. The selection of frames and parts was quite limited, but mostly decent, high quality stuff. Based around a 2011 Crupi Pro XL frame, the bike has a mixture of largely Crupi, Promax and Sinz parts. With a limited choice of colours but inspired by the 1988, 24-carat gold Hutch Trick Styler, I went for a white frameset with a splash of gold in the form of a few, matching gold ano parts from Promax. The only thing I had to compromise on was the wheelset and pedals, though they will do just fine for now.
