The Bruiser

When I brought the Bruiser home in 2014 it already had a nasty repair. It's been cracked and repaired twice since I've had it but she keeps on chuggin' along. She's been through several rebuilds over the years, I always seem to be finding new ways to dial'er in.

As for history, I don't know much except that it was supposedly a racer. The previous owner got it from a guy in Orange County back in the early 90's who I'm told was a team rider, very tall, and had a name like Steve or Scott Samson or Simpson possibly, but I've never been able to track the name down or get any confirmation. The frame has no serial, which was common of team riders or friends/family of the CBR shop. It had some rare Cook Bros Bonzo Fury bars, CBR canti-brake fork, CBR hubs(bolt-thru without Santa Ana logo), CBR bottom bracket, Slant Stem, Diamondback Sugino cranks, and Shimano DX pedals. The seat tube was broken at the toptube and repaired from the original owner running a laid back seat post too high. I had a buddy clean up the repair and re-weld it, which worked for a couple years until I broke it again. My buddy Robert made me some cool clamshell gussets to fix it for good which so far has proven to work.
