I just came across an original/unused 1974 Moto-Bike owners manual!! It shows specifically the no banana seat bike in manual pictures.

It just brought me right back to '74, wish I was kid again.

I may put this up on ebay so that someone whom needs it for the show can use it. Otherwise, I will just take it out once a year and keep reliving my youth.

If I could make a suggestion,Chen shin makes a tire much more appropriate for a bike of that vintage.They say C-93-1 on 'em,and they are kind of a flat,vaguely diamond shaped tread.I love the bike,but hate the Comp 3s on it.

Does anyone know what years Yamaha built the moto?  I have had mine since 1973.  Is there any way of telling just how old the bike is.  I was supprised there is no info on this bike except right here on BMXmuseum.com  Did the moto come in diffrent colors.  I thought it came in yellow, green, orange.  I have the orange model.  Thank for your help......73

So do you think that the moto was built in 1973, 1974, and in 1975.  A friend a Inkies bike shop said that Yamaha, Honda, and Kawasaki all built this style of bike.  But try to find out any info on the net about these bikes and you can't.  I plan on a complete restore with all new parts.  I will take a before and after photos.  73.......Wayne

Hello to all.  Good luck Chuck on the General.  That was the easy one for me.  Thirteen words per min. on the key, and I aced the exam.  It's the Extra that is very hard.  I was down at Inkies bike shop talking to Tod, the manager.  He showed me his 1973.  Its a combo of all different parts, front end parts, and it all aluminum frame.  My Yamaha is all steel frame.  I did not know they made an aluminum frame.  Tod called it "his bastard".  I was going to ask you what is your call sign?  I been hamming for around fifteen years.  Take it easy, lots of study on the exam, you should ace it.  See ya down the logg.........73

Just picked up one of these frames from the dump.  Needs a lot of resto, but not too bad.  Very psyched to see they sell the original decals on ebay.  Sweet!  I've checked out all of the motos in here and even the pics I've seen from some of the old ads and brochures on ebay.  None of them show a front fender on them except for one on bmxmuseum, but that one doesn't look like the orinal front fender.  Mine happens to have the front fender.  Another thing I've figured out is that they made this bike from '73 -'75.  Some of them came with a single saddle and some including the one I have came with a banana seat.  Mine doesn't have the seat or supports anymore, but I can see from the wear marks that one was there before. This is goin to be an awesome rebuild project!  Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to where I can find new oil seals for the front shocks.  I think I'm goin to admit the frame to bmxmuseum and add pics as I go along.  May take a while due to availablity of parts and funds but I'll git-r-done one way or another. lol.

Looking for some advice ...

My dad owned a Yamaha dealership in the early 1970s, and he gave me one of the original Moto-Bikes as a kid in 1974. It's been sitting in storage for more than 30 years. I'm wondering if anyone could pass along any ideas of how to restore it. My bike is pretty rough, missing the rear fender and chain guard, and the seat is in bad shape. But I believe the rest is original or close to it.
