Re: [pics] 2009 Haro Retro Freestyler!

I don't understand why everyone is bummed out over the seat... I'd much rather have that one than one of those plastic-shell torture devices... If it came with a hard plastic seat, I would swap for something that looks like this one anyways...

The chainwheel is a bit goth for this bike... but would probably look great on a flat-black newschool bike... I would probably replace it with a meganuke chainring just to jazz it up a bit... the cranks look pretty nice though...

What's the TT length on it per your measurement?

I like it Greg... it looks cool!

I'm not sure how wide they are, but they are not as wide as my S&M Race XLT bars or my Eastern bars, so these are not following the current "wide trend".  I'll measure them tomorrow though smile

Thanks man!

I'm also very curious about the top tube length...

At first I didn't like these bikes... but seeing real pictures of it has definitely changed my mind!

I'd like to see one of these parked next to one of those new 2-Hip Pork bikes...

Re: [pics] 2009 Haro Retro Freestyler!

I just checked the Haro brochure, which states that the "OG Freestyler" has a TT length of 20.5", which is average for a street/park bike (though much longer than the original 1983 Freestyler or 1984 Master).  Head tube angle is 74.5, and the seat tube angle is 71.5.  The Freestyler appears to share the same basic geometry as Haro's top of the line Convert frame.

Re: [pics] 2009 Haro Retro Freestyler!

20.5" is plenty long enough! I'm just a bit over 6'3" and I ride a 20.5" S&M Trails Version...

I'm actually considering this... if I can get squared away with my tax refund...

... already visualizing the build... that's usually the kiss of death for me! LOL!

Re: [pics] 2009 Haro Retro Freestyler!

Man, tough crowd. Awesome f/f.. the rest is EASY money big_smile Seems like the Haro's popularity is through the roof at the moment, so here is a killer way to build the perfect old-school thrasher for the parks. I dig it..
Theres a ton of aftermarket parts that could be put on to simulate retro, and 9 out of 10 guys at the park would think its the real thing... sweet.

Re: [pics] 2009 Haro Retro Freestyler!

I think a few more companys should hop in a time machine to when they had to provide what PEOPLE wanted in order to stay in bussiness. these days you flop down 250$ at the LBS for a miraco only to unearth the made in china sticker while you tune it yourself cause they didnt. ERRR I guess they only have time for 2000$ bikes now. I wonder if the 17 yr old "mechanic" spent 10 minutes putting it together errr.

The welds on the haro look like a ROBOT did it for sure or more probly 50%50%. didnt catch the Made in USA sticker wich will be on ALL futrue bikes.

retro for the sake of retro is rediculus(sp) whoever is putting out the new tuffs cudo's for the sealed bearings but I want a 10 tooth drive.

Is the geometry the same as the older ones and the oldolder ones  and the orriganalz. Itd be cool to see a pic of them stripped side by side by side smile

Hey I take offense to that. I'm 16 and build my own bikes the right way lol Just kidding, thats why I buy my own parts and put it together the way I want.

Re: [pics] 2009 Haro Retro Freestyler!

$500 is WAY too much for a bike made mostly of Hi-Ten, regardless of how good it looks.  Might be worth 1/3 of that, tops.  And as far as the welds go...it's REALLY easy to make a nice looking weld on Hi-Ten, so that doesn't mean a thing either.

sorry there are good parts out there you just will pay dearly . All parts at the bike shop need to be better than wallyworld.
and ROBOTs weld better than humans do is what i meant. just because its made in china doesnt have to meen its junk but it almost always does.

sorry, but what a bunch of idiots at Haro....mad

i wonder what i could get for all the parts that come on one of those.
mags, tires, seat, seatpost, bars, stem and forks.

Same here... sad
They didn't stay in sacrificing full cr-mo tubing for hi-ten, they also did changes on the headtube: no integrated headset and no gyro tabs!! roll

If that guy does come back, i'd like to know why the bike has 4130 decals all over it.  Thats sort of false-advertising.
