86/87 Diamondback opinons needed

This is BMX related so hear me out:
I normally would not ask anyone’s opinion on what I build but this bike is so outside of my wheelhouse I thought it’d be fun to hear everyone’s opinion on it.
I picked up this amazing survivor 86-87 Diamondback Ascent last night and just amazing survivor condition despite some white house paint drips on the front tire.  I was originally gonna turn around and sell it, but I got to thinking how cool it might look modified to be more bmx cruiser style.  In its current guise its not really my thing with the bars, seat and multi speeds, so how would YOU modify it?
It has dia-compe brakes, sugino VP cranks, SR hubs with wienmann hoops and killer kenda’s.
Lets hear it:

I did it with an 85 Kuwahara Aries a few years back. Added a bmx chainwheel, seat, stem, cruiser bars and grips. Instead of rebuilding the rear wheel with a free wheel I just ran it on my preferred gear ratio. I'll see if I can find a pic

Chainwheel teeth ÷ freewheel teeth x wheel diameter in inches = gear inches.

Wanted: Always looking for midschool stuff.

If that is a threaded multi speed you can get a 12T that will work in place of it. I would turn it into a cruiser for sure.

Sounds killer....
I know people do it all the time but I couldn't really find pics of specific examples other than people making them single speed mountain bikes.  No mountains in Houston....Lol

It actually is so that just might work.  I was looking it over last night and the rear SR hub looks standard BMX style

Search the Bike Gallery under: 1983-85  Diamond Back Sand Streak 26”

You’ll see a few examples of what that style frame can become.  Cruiser, strandie, etc...

Yeah when I built my Quad 24 I used one. Set of old Araya type MTB wheels - about £35. Set of 24 cruiser wheels? don't ask... I fitted a 28 to mine as the frame would only allow it (modern sodding frame) but I would prefer a 30. Well, unless you are not in a hurry and really are just cruising catching some 'rays smile
