Here's my current scooter project. I had this and a pink Mongoose scooter. I gave the Mongoose to Ohioguy31 and gave this one to my younger brother. It sat in the same spot next to my parents' garage fot a year, so my mom told me to take it. I was going to try to get rid of it at the Akron show/swap last Sunday, but had the brilliant idea that I needed another project. It is currently stripped down to parts. Threw the bars away since the chrome was roached. Tires and grips as well. This thing is kinda going to be a restomod sort of deal. Lots of rust peeking through the scratches so it will take some time.

Look forward to seeing the completed scoot             big_smile

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well. I just need to find someone that can recreate the decals. Also the little plastic cover (center cap?) Is broken on one of the wheels, that I know of.

Can't get the back wheel off yet. I need a flat open box wrench to hold the piece that goes over the bearings and keeps them in. Anyone know where I can rebuy the plastic center cap?

'87 decals are available on Ebay.  Don't know where to get the center cap.

Cool find, have fun!

Send me a pic of what you are describing, I might have some extras.

Re: Let's start a SCOOTER thread!

well apparently one of the recent changes is that only pro members can post in the ebay sales section.  There's a teal randor scooter on there right now, about $50.  not bad.  I'd still want an orange one like I used to have...but that one seems solid.

Love that Peregrine.  That would be a great frame style to make a modern production run of.

Re: Let's start a SCOOTER thread!

No BMX has that much sentimental value that it would overrule me "parting it out" if the need arose.  That said, you're not going to find buyers for parted scooters.  Wheels, frame, fork, tires--these are all scooter specific & can't be used on "regular" bmx.  Scooter brakes are almost all generic and crap low end compared to their BMX bicycle counterparts.

So other than someone randomly showing interest in the bars/stem for some type of bicycle build--you're not going to find any market.

But that is just the thing.
People are not willing to pay the shipping price to have a complete scooter shipped.
If they are then they most likely will not want to pay the asking price for the scoot.
So yeah, it looks as if brakes/stem/bar/headset will be more worth the effort than trying
to list the whole thing complete.

And that's why BMX scooters will eventually be only a distant memory; they're headed for the garbage dump in droves.  I'm sure GAry is ticked pink though.

Send them to me.  They are worth very little, even the high end brands so now days I buy em and put them away to save em from such a fate.  I do love them, Im too old to enjoy riding one, but I think they're killer.

...and yes, parting out a scooter is a waste of time as you're looking for that over-the-rainbow guy who builds scooters and there are hardly any.  The only thing from scooters that bring good money are original and usable skin wall freestyle tires since they do not reproduce them.
