Getting bike ripped off sucks

Just bought my wife a new woman s mountain bike (not a bmx bike). Was on our 3rd beach ride to Santa Monica pier Locked up mine and hers at bike rack with cable lock. Came back 15 min later and her new bike stolen and lock too. Police sub station on top of pier made report they said bikes stolen all the time there. I think they should put up sign about high theft area.  Sucks people stealing other peoples stuff. All u beach ride bmx group riders beware. He also said I shouldn't use cable lock use a d ring.

Argh!  Put up a sign?  They should put up a stake out!

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

Not cool at all.  This needs to happen:

Beware of my alter ego, PLANTAIN -- "If there's one thing I won't guarantee, it's your safety!"
Luther Is A Good Ol' Dog Club -- See you at the Rainbow Bridge, my friend!
Ford Mustang

Family, Friendship, and Fortitude -- that is all.

Re: Getting bike ripped off sucks

Ugh, sorry to hear that man. Reminds me of back in the mid 80s there was a rash of bike thefts in my area. They were only targeting high end bmx. It seemed like every day I was hearing of another bike getting stolen. Only lead they had is that the thieves drove a station wagon. Wondered what ever happened to all those bikes?

-"The only thing I'm good at is riding this bike"
-"I've come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubble gum"
-"Who's the fella that owns this shit hole"
-"As a Union Machinist that takes immense pride in his work and work ethic I want to totally motherf*ck you...but you're not a bad dude so I guess I'll just leave this instead" - Burning River
-"pound me in the ass Hutch pink" - IPD

Re: Getting bike ripped off sucks

I didn't think someone would go through the hassle to cut the lock and risk getting caught in the middle of all those people and they still did it and yes steak out would be nice

Hopefully it was over $500.00 bike and they catch the person and they get charged with felony theft.

$600 bike I bought it over the phone so I use the credit card and the credit card had buyers protection so they reimbursed the price to me
