Re: Haro Master serial number help

Yep gen 3 overseas made Master ............cool

some good info for you ..

Model: Haro Master Freestyler 3rd Generation
Date of Manufacture: August 1984 to November 1984
Serial Formula: 84 (year) 10 (month) 4 digit production sequence.
Origin: Taiwan: China
Manufacturer: Anlun
Approximate numbers Produced: Approximately 2500
Color: Chrome Plate over 4130 Chromoly Steel or Grey primer, white paint over 4130 Chromoly Steel
Description
The Third Generation of the 1984 Haro Master was the first to be produced by Anlun, in Taiwan. In most respects, the bikes appeared to be very similar to the U.S. made models, although a closer look reveals a few important differences.
The third generation Masters were the first frames to carry the stamped chevron logo, in this case situated on the main head tube/ down tube gusset. The decals are now fitted to the frame without the “cut out” third stripe and a 4130 Chromoly decal has been added to the seat mast below the main “Master” decal. The rear triangle resembled a cross between the two previous generations with slightly thicker tubing like the 1st gen but the tube ends are now capped off and welded shut. The coaster bracket remains on the top of the rear chain stay, although now it’s a lot thicker than the US Made version. Once again, to add strength, the dropouts have flared under edges to allow flex but without creating a point of weakness. The serial number is situated under the bottom bracket shell and the seat mast is now taller, standing 45mm above the gusset plate, 5mm taller than the US Models.
The 3rd generation Masters are considered to be less desirable than the U.S Made frames, partly due to the preconception that products manufactured overseas are mass produced. However, production of the overseas Masters commenced in the final third of 1984 and they don’t appear to have been produced in huge numbers due to the considerable workload that Anlun undertook in producing and assembling three different models, as well as producing some of the hardware specified on the bikes.
