Recommend a decent low-end way to record video

For someone that wants to just record basic footage (no helmet cams or anything like that) where the camcorder will be stationary, what's a decent camcorder that comes with video editing footage?

I have heard good things about the HD Flip but there's a lot of options out there and I don't know which ones get good quality video and come with easy to use software for some very basic editing and chopping up footage.

I use a jvc action cam. Less expensive than the go pro and has an lcd screen built in unlike go pro cameras. All of the editing I do is with windows movie maker. Free and easy to use.
