DG Pink

A friend ordered this brand new out of BMX Plus Magazine.  I have tried to buy this from him since the early 90's, and finally got my chance to purchase in fall 2013.  Its all there.  Only non OEM parts at purchase were the grips, rear rim, upper gyro cable, and a few missing stickers.  The original rear rim also came with it but has a flat spot.  Putting this back to OG specs.  Come to find out it had been repainted with automotive paint in the mid 90's and had faded to a orange over time.   Back to OG specs once again.  This thing is gorgeous!   A new set of rims came from caleb-k31.  NOS Tires, Spokes, Pads, Chain-ring, Chain, Grips, Seat, and Cables were also gathered.  C4 did the DG Pink and the rest was powdered locally.  All the original parts that were good were redone.

I agree with Bob. If that is the OG finish it is incredible. They are only original once! I am not a fan of powder coating unless it is absolutely necessary. Especially on a Grail Bike like that! Defiantly one of the top five freestyle bikes from back in the day. 87" was the best year for freestyle bikes hands down! Congrats Bro. cool

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

Thanks Guys,
I'm torn on this one, to paint or not to paint?  The paint is cracking in a few spots.  It has been buried in a barn for about 15 yrs.  I was surprised it held up as good as it did.  The color has faded some and is a little bit orange, in my opinion.  It is very bright and beautiful in the sunlight!  I value your opinions on the paint, so if you have any, feel free to voice it! wink
