Best brakes for small hands...

My 4 year old has a 12" Specialized BMX bike. It has a coaster brake, but I added a Dia-compe U-brake to the rear with some Vans cool stop pads. She's riding fast enough now, that she needs to be able to stop fast, too.
I've got Dia-compe levers, with adjustable reach, and have adjusted them in so she has no trouble reaching them. Also using Dia-compe MX900 caliper, if I recall correctly.
They take a lot of force to squeeze, though and she has to focus so much effort into squeezing them, that she takes her eyes off the road (or sidewalk).
Are there any u-brake caliper / lever combos that are strong, yet easy to pull?
Oh yea, I also have new slic cables on it, to take that out of the equation.
Thanks for any tips.

Re: Best brakes for small hands...

Try a v-brake lever.  IIRC, v-brake lever & u-brake = massively overpowered.  (conversely, u-brake lever & v-brake = woefully underpowered).

It's the physics of long-pull lever.  Adjust it so the reach works for her--and it will probably work like a dream.

Hmmm. I think I have some mountainbike V-brake levers laying around. I'll give that combo a try.
Thanks
