Re: Peregrine Mag colors.... shall we ?
I still maintain dom's are shocking pink...thats a bike shop invoice...not an invoice from Peregrine...be willing to bet they made a mistake ordering your wheels....
I see no difference between dom's and smokinendo's wheels except lighting...

Re: Peregrine Mag colors.... shall we ?
I saw some for sale from Austalia that were yellow and a set that were blue, both with reflectors, but they didn't have any markings according to the seller. I wondered if they were peregrines KO's. And another set that came off of a royce bike.
As to the post above with the article objective rad, it seems clear that the article is refering to the handle bars and not the wheels. However, the peregrine print may say something but it can't be read on my screen. Just looking at the picture shows the wheels don't match the bike's radberry color. At least to me.![]()
I don't throw it away because someday I know I will want it back.

Re: Peregrine Mag colors.... shall we ?
Okay.. good . so we all pretty much agree now that there were THREE different shades that often get labeled radberry.
- Lavender (lighter / more pale)
- Radberry (a slightly more saturated / deeper lavender with just a touch more Magenta)
- Shocking Pink (looks lighter when faded - but still very Magenta in color)
-------------
But I'll agree with Hudson on this one. That reciept fromt the bike shop that says Radberry... might just be a shop interpretation. They look like the Shocking Pink to me.
Hudson's Radberry Stem and Mags on that Yellow RL .. look like the ticket!![]()
whhhhewww.... I need a beer.

Re: Peregrine Mag colors.... shall we ?
One of my friends had a set of BLUE Peregrine/OGK mags just like the ones on SmokinEndo's Profile. Other than my friends set, those are the only other blue ones I've ever seen.
Then another friend had a set of RED Peregrine/OGK mags. And I mean red like Skyway Tuff Wheels. He bought them thru mailorder in 1985 from either Frankford Bicycle or Hank & Frank. I just remember the name Frank somewhere in the name. My one friend says he still has them till this day. I haven't talked to him in years though. I've never seen anothe red set other than his.
I know I've got a 1986 Redline catalog somewhere with some pics of the Peregrines. I'll try to find it and scan the Peregrine pictures.

These must have been neon green ones?
They came on this survivor 86 master I bought and I was told the bike was sold new as you see it (fake green AMEs, green dominator, and green mags)...

Re: Peregrine Mag colors.... shall we ?
Well, this is interesting. I went thru a bunch of old mags, and the first mentions/ads of Peregrine mags seems to be around mid-85. In the earliest ad (I could find) with Peregrine wheels, it simply says "comes in colors to match all the Redline painted componentry". Nowhere do I see them calling the "purple" mags lavender. They do call the pink wheels "Shocking Pink".
Then in the 1986 ad, they still mention Shocking Pink, but now it officially calls the purple wheels Radberry. In the 1986 Redline catalog, it's called Radberry as well. Interesting. My theory is that Peregrine came out with lavender wheels (and other colors) in conjunction with the 1985 Redline line up, then when Redline officially called their bike color Radberry, Peregrine followed suit...
From BMXA Sept 1985:
From BMXA July 1986:
From the 1986 Redline catalog:
These are the best resolution I could do...
Will trade my SOUL (or just a bunch of cash) for a chrome Skyway TA XL...

That's Super Fresh !
Here's a pic of my 87 Kuwi Magician EX with OGK's in blue
as Matt mentioned the OGK's (with the tabs cut off
)have a few differences in design. The OGK's have a smaller cut-out to create the star giving each blade of the star a thicker appearance and at the same time making the holes smaller plus what Matt said ![]()

They don't mention blue or green or red or neon yellow either
my theory is that they (OGK) were making wheels for all sorts of people Kuwihara, Hutch, Peregrine/Redline and that maybe not all of the colors are listed in Redline's literature. Maybe we should go a step further and try to get some Kuwi, Hutch literature from around 86-88 ?
Oh and let's not forget that they made mags for GT in colors too
I've personally got them in Green and blue and I've seen with my own eye's in Teal, deep lavender and Grey.... where does it end ?
I'm going to save all the pics from this thread and play with the contrast and lighting a bit to see if a lot of them seem to line up ?then maybe post them together. Maybe we can get a few worms outta this can ?

Re: Peregrine Mag colors.... shall we ?
Oh and the deal on the Graphite Composite lettering and such is simply different generations of said wheel. Peregrine got in trouble for ever calling them Graphite Composite and they were forced to remove it from their mag wheel line. Graphite composite is what Skyway Graphite's are made out of and if you've ever seen them in person you've seen the gold and black fibers in the graphite material. Graphite in a Black material and they were making bright white wheels that read Graphite Composite right on the side, everyone who knew anything about graphite knew it was fake and it didn't last long.
and there are different locations for the lettered stampings too some are on the fin of plastic that sticks up in-between each mag blade and some are on the outer lip where the brake pads would be applied. Some say Peregrine Master Graphite Composite and some just Peregrine. Plus if there are some with no labels at all there is a chance that pads have rubbed it away over the years ? There are also a couple different hub variations. There is one with 10 straight bars of plastic that are all of equal height and there are some where the height of every other plastic bar is high and low this can clearly be seen in the catalog scan posted above. The Shocking Picks are the only one with 10 of equal height pictured which I believe are from the later mags and probably have the stamped letters on the in-sides
now I feel like I'm in incoherently rambling LOL
Let me post this and re-read it then I'll be back with more
God it's late....

That Air Uni is Delicious
is that Paul's (Bronxstyler's) old ride ? The white and blue has always been my favorite.
You said that the second gens still have the high-low type hub but your pic shows the all equal height hub, do you have another second gen with the high-low style hub and the lettering on the center fin ? Just wondering

Re: Peregrine Mag colors.... shall we ?
It's hard to see in the picture, but it has the low spots in between the high spots. This is the only 2nd Gen set of Peregrines I've ever had. Before this set I had never even seen them before. I also have a set of black that I haven't seen any ads for. Were the blacks only stock wheels on certain bikes? Or were they also available for sale separately??

Re: Peregrine Mag colors.... shall we ?
Sure Discount Harry's on RT130 used to have at least 10 sets of black in stock at all times (that place ruled for Peregrine mags they had tons hanging up around their bike area as a kid)
I don't think you understand what I'm trying to explain about the hubs. It's had to put in words cause were talking about plastic and not a part particuliarly. Let me get a pic together to aid me in explaining.

Brian,
I understand perfectly, I've restored a bunch of these. The 2nd gens that I have are stamped on the inner fin and the fronts have the low spots in between the high spots, is that unusual?
Here are the pics that show this clearly on mine:
Stamping on inner fin, high and low spots, and decal!
