1992 Redline RL 440

i built this an a retro MXII to ride the streets with my kids.

I bought the frame thinking it was an MXII. It sat around for 2 years when I decided one day to use it for a rider. I rode from 78-83 and the old Redlines were the "had to have" bike back then. Most of these parts are mine from bitd. The brute stem and bars are mine (bars were extended by my dad back in 81). The rest of the parts came from a few good friends down here in Australia. Looks great Coasty, glad you got those decals on. (Average Joe from VBMX) RL440's are a great bike to retro IMHO.

That's one of the best hoodstormers I've seen.  Very clean.

Re: 1992 Redline RL 440

nice bike coasty,
i'm in Gympie just down the road a bit. I havn't ridden a bmx since the 80's but have just bought an old 440 frame with a veiw to doing it up, much the same as yours. Any idea where i can get the frame and other parts re chromed at a resonable price without having to go to Briz Vegas ?

Re: 1992 Redline RL 440

Hey mate. Hows things?
Theres not a lot of chroming places up this way. I have found a guy in Bundy but he doesn't do frames. roll
There is a guy here in Hervey Bay that does it. He charges way too much though. he wanted $150 to do a pair of forks? yikes
I'm trying to find a place in Maryborough that used to do chroming but i haven't tracked them down yet.
I'll be sure to let you know if i do find someone.
If your in the bay sometime let me know and we'll go for a pedal. I have heaps of riders.
Cheers
Glenn

Re: 1992 Redline RL 440

Nice looking ride.  I love the black on black.  I am currently building a 1979 candy aple red MXII I was going to put white mags on it but looking at yours I may stick some black ones on and see how it turns out.
