Re: Let's start a SCOOTER thread!

Anyone know what size Gyro cables I need for a 14" GT Zoot Scoot? That's the last piece to my project.

Re: Let's start a SCOOTER thread!

It's a Diggler, and specifically one of their discontinued models, the Cement Mixxer.  If the weather is nice tomorrow, I'll slap the pegs on it and take some better pics...sans the cardboard protective pieces.

It's not stock at all.  Swapped in the hydro-dipped love handles, FSA stem (with gyro tabs), ditched the upper gyro plate, swapped in some 4-spoke mags I got off the museum here, and added Fuan F1 clones & camo tires.  I don't have any stock pics...I must have misplaced the one I found on CL showing an identical, stock one.  (Came with 2-piece bars, 48h alex wheels (mine are for sale), etc.

I used to think 20" was going to be too large, but Diggler had a couple of these left in the warehouse & I got a good price on NOS in the box (these have been discontinued since 2005-2006 maybe?)  Threadless fork was a huge factor for me.  I might look to put a shock-fork up front one day...but only if I find the right one & it has a long enough steerer tube.

I really wanted to get a replica set of decals...but no luck yet.  If I do, I'll seriously consider painting the frame white.  I'm debating on rattle-can camo'ing my mags...

you need an upper and a lower for the rear brake, but IDK if the lowers for the zoot scoots were longer than the lowers for bikes. I would think not...

Re: Let's start a SCOOTER thread!

What's the trick to keeping the tires from rolling off the rim? It does it with my 40lb son on the scooter.
Thanks

Depends on what you're looking for.  Diggler makes some very high quality stuff, but you will pay for it.  Unfortunately, they're also one of the only ones who are using all "modern" tech, like threadless forks, u-brakes, etc.

Percival, here's what i can tell you about it.  I think the frames were originally sold ~2004.  This model is called a Cement Mixxer (yes, 2 "x"s).  At this point, only the frame, levers, brakes, cables and gyro are original.  I wanted to post a build list of parts on it with a musuem entry...but Gary is racist against BMX scooters (don't ask me why MTB still gets love).

Anyhoo, Bars are custom hydro-dipped 5th gen love handles.  Fuan Grips.  Rush levers/brakes.  SST gyro, FSA stem (tabs included), Frost pegs, Bell tires, and some brandless mags that I bought off the museum here.  The deck had black grip-tape originally, but I found some camo skateboard grit-tape, and cut it to fit.  I've got a few more sets of these tires--which are discontinued.  PM me if you are interested.

Really nice Diggler( Little big for me tho). Mibo makes a 12 inch with threadless fork and rotor but shipping would probably be ruff from CZ

Re: Let's start a SCOOTER thread!

I rode scooters hardcore for years along with bmx. Seriously.
I only owned Yo scooters because the donut style frame kept
it from bending. I still own three Yo scooters.

My main scooter is built custom to endure hardcore beatings.
I don't ride with brakes on scooters. Never did.

I made a steel deck for it because I would just snap the the fiberglass or plastic ones.
I added Skyway Tuff Wheels
Tuf Neck
Haro Kneesavers
and Sawed down pegs...however, I recently removed them.

Re: Let's start a SCOOTER thread!

nobody stocks parts for old scooters, afaik.  your best bet is probably to find a metal shop and ask them to fab something up for you.  worst case, you can buy a cheap skateboard deck & try hack-sawing it down to size.

no dice.  not only was it not accepted, my submission disappeared into thin air.  so unless i'm missing something, either it's just a select few scooters are being accepted, or someone has a vendetta against me.

Are we allowed to sell scooters in the new for sale or the swap meet? I don't see a category in the new section.
