I am going to remove my '89 PFT decals today and need help reproducing. Can I package them and send them to one of you guys for this? Please PM me.
I would like to get my hands on one of those Haro disc decals too!

Send them to Chromey.  He'll do them for you.

Great job on the decal removal mike!

Couldn't stop at removing old ones. I deglued it with goof off, then used Turtle wax rubbing compound on the paint so it all looked like the unfaded blue under the stickers.

I applied the decals Hboost sold me and reassembled.


It is too late to run the air compressor so the new white Ame's will have to wait for tomorrow. I had to use a new chain and front brake cable. The brake shoes are hard so I will change those out. The wheels are from an '87 Decade that I re-spoked.

I am in the process of Making my own decals and i have NO IDEA what the printers need and who may be able to print what i need done. I am making General Hustler Fred Blood Wheel Cover Decals.  They are semi circular in shape which would mean they would have to be cut,..  Die-Cut  maybe the term.  I would prefer to make them in a 600dpi photoshop workspace, but if i have to i can use illustrator.  Does ANYONE know if i need to do anything special in my work flow to make this happen?  Someone mentioned to me that colors printed on clear film need to be printed on white, so does that mean i need to make white mattes of all my work, and then the full color versions?

Will printers take cymk 600dpi PDF files?  I really don't want to work with eps in illustrator.  It will just take me 2wice as long.  It took me a week to figure out the GENERAL font from 86/87 is actualyl a classic Mac font called Onyx.

hes talking about laying down an opaque white then printing a color on top of it so you get a better color representation versus just printing the color onto clear with no opaque white behind it - the color will be weaker looking with no white behind it.

I guess, depending on the process, you may end up using opaque inks and not have this issue.

I ran a press that used water-based inks, and we had to back stuff up with white when printing colors on clear.

But when I ran UV inks, I didn't need to do that - the inks were thick / opaque enough to not need white under it - but thats a different kind of ink compared to water-base - like what its chemically made of.

A printer can advise you. And not some kinkos quick copy place. go to a real label shop.

P.S. - using white could also prevent the base color (the bike frame color) from altering the sticker color - like, if you had a light colored sticker and put it onto a dark colored frame, the sticker color would appear slightly darker than desired, as the top color cannot completely block out the color below  it.

Right now I am in contact with this guy who specializes in re-printing vintage bicycle decals. I will let all of you know how the transaction goes. He has a lot of experience just with bike decals, he can also do a really thin UV clear coat over the top for added protection. Seems like he knows the deal, I will let you all know.
