Santa Barbara Fiesta Cruiser Ride 2012
Hello Chromies,
I wanted to give you all a heads up. The Santa Barbara Fiesta Cruiser Ride will be on Sunday August 5th this year. This ride is a long time Santa Barbara tradition and has been taking place for over 30 years now. The ride meets at the bottom of State street where the road meets the pier (dolphin fountain). The ride is mostly made up of cruisers (all kinds). But anyone is welcome regardless of bike type. I hope to get a lot of you to attend this year. It would be great to see the largest turn out of BMX guys ever. Please tell all of your friends and come to Santa Barbara in August!
Here is my attempt of mapping the route. It might not be perfect, but with 800 riders I am sure no one will get lost.

Re: Santa Barbara Fiesta Cruiser Ride 2012
The UCSB folks who run Coal Oil Point reserve don't want the part of the ride from the edge of IV to Coal Oil Point, and back along the lagoon.
Routing up Corto to Colegio and to the Bike Path would make `em much happier.

I love that this ride has gone on for so many years and is still slightly mysterious, with limited web presence; it's refreshing.
A bicycle is like a toothbrush; you should have one and use it often.

The ride is a total of around 30 miles. But do not let that discourage you. The groups makes 3 stops on the way out and everyone hangs out for about 30min at each stop. You will have time to rest and get something to drink while you watch the crowd/wheelies ....
The stop at Goleta beach is longer allowing everyone to relax on the grass and has a impromptu bike show where people hold up their bikes and the crowd cheers. Loudest cheers wins. Its a fun time for sure.
Last year we have around 1200+ riders so any pace will work as the group is HUGE!

The show will be located at: 512 East Haley Street, Santa Barbara, California. Starting around 9:00-9:30. We usually all ride to the pier as a group from the show.

Re: Santa Barbara Fiesta Cruiser Ride 2012
Please Note:
UCSB has removed the bike jumps (Ellwood) that were installed without permission on its property to protect the public safety and to protect and preserve sensitive natural habitats in the area that are home to various endangered and sensitive species of plants, animals and birds.
The University of California, Santa Barbara is committed to the environment and works to preserve sensitive natural habitats that are home to various endangered and sensitive species of plants, animals, and birds. Unplanned and unsponsored events threaten these vital habitats because newly planted seedlings are fragile and don't withstand trampling and wildlife are sensitive to loud and disruptive crowds and broken glass. The UCSB Department of Environmental Health & Safety and the Police Department are requesting your assistance in helping the campus to preserve these habitats for generations to come.
Looking ahead at the scheduled Fiesta Bicycle Event on Sunday, August 5, 2012, we kindly ask that you refrain from all unlawful behavior and avoid the fenced areas on campus designated as a “restricted access area." In addition, there will be an increase in law enforcement personnel and all laws will be strictly enforced. Your cooperation in helping us preserve these sensitive natural habitats on campus is greatly appreciated.
The fencing that was posted on Camino Majorca and Coal Oil Point during the 2011 bike ride will be up again this year. Please plan your route accordingly.
Thank you!
