Well, here is my first NS bike

We it took a while, but after checking out some of the new school rides at last years RAD Reunion, I decided to buy a NS bike.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u226/glenn1011/AyQM4TnCIAAjgysjpglarge.jpg

I messed around with a few to get an idea of what I was looking for and here is what I found. It is a 2012 Sunday Scout. Overall, I really like the feel of the bike. It is light and solid. Also, it was important for me to have a bike that had some color (not just flat black like so many)

Here's the scoop:

FRAME: Chromoly HT, TT, DT, Seatstays & Dropouts
GEOMETRY: 21.25″ TT, 74.5º HT, 71º ST, 11.625″ BB, 14″ CS
FORK: Full Chromoly w/1PC Steerer Tube & Welded Pre-load Thread Insert
HANDLEBAR: Full Chromoly Triumph XL Replica
STEM: Sunday Freeze Top-Load
HEADSET: Integrated, 1 1/8″
BRAKE: Rush
BRAKE LEVER: Odyssey Monolever, Medium
BRAKE CABLE: Odyssey Linear Quik Slic Medium
GRIPS: Sunday Word Bubble
SEAT: Odyssey Aitken, Pivotal
SEAT POST: Pivotal
SEAT CLAMP: Sunday
SPROCKET: Sunday Sabretooth, 6061-T6 Aluminum, 30-T
CRANKS: 3-Piece Tubular Chromoly, 175mm
BOTTOM BRACKET: Sealed Mid, 19mm
PEDALS: Odyssey Twisted PC
RIMS: Odyssey Quadrant, 36h
FRONT HUB: Sealed, 3/8″, 36h
REAR HUB: Sealed Cassette, 14mm, 36h, 9-T
TIRES: Odyssey, 2.125″ Aitken Knobby Front & 2.1″ Path Rear
CHAIN: KMC Z510HX
WEIGHT: 26.2 lbs

So the first day I got it, I decided to take it out for a spin in the local skatepark. There were lots of 13-20 year old's checking out the bike, and they all loved it. After a few minutes, I decided to be brave and drop in on one of the deeper bowls, and here is what I got for it:

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u226/glenn1011/422237_449254361764451_1011271680_a.jpg

Anyways, so far so good. 360's out of the bowl are my goal for the end of August. Wish mw luck.

Nice Ride big_smile

Re: Well, here is my first NS bike

Welcome " To The Dark Side " and congrats ! Sick ride ! I really wanted the 2010 Scout Model cause the color is sick ! Man that green isn't so bad after all seeing it in daylight smile ! Well u took a spill, so we all see the damage to you, but what happened to the bike ? Ok I just re-looked at your bike and on my 2009 Haro X4 and 2010 Fit I ride the seat post at the height that u have yours ! My son on his 2010 Haro Forum and my 2011 Haro 500.2, we slammed the seats big_smile Ok now for your bars lol lol bring them back inline with the forks lol ! Reason I'm laughing is because it took me a year to bring my New School bars back ( all  but the Fit ) here's why ! That's why u ate SH**, cause u rode it at the skate park like that ! I didn't believe the kids and even a old timer, when they TOLD ME, bring the bars back . After I almost ate it big time I went home and brought all the bars back and what a different world ! Took awhile to get use to, but it was that or keep crashing yikes ! On my fit I left them straight cause I feel hella comfortable on the DIRT JUMPS with them straight up, skate park, HELL NO lol !

The gearing feels good to ride around at the skatepark. I have never ridden true new school gearing, but this feels good. To be honest though, the bike is so smooth, I haven't really noticed the gearing, and lets be honest, I'm not riding to the skatepark, the bike goes in the back of my truck. One thing I did do however, was to get rid of that dirt front tire and put on a Fit tire, designed more for park riding, not trails.

Re: Well, here is my first NS bike

I totally admire your courage to go to the 'Dark Side', and to drop into the large bowl cool I love the colours you have selected. The bike is sick!!

PS. Any updates on the DB you picked up a few weeks back?

If you cut your bars a little it makes the steering more responsive.

How far back do you recommend, or do I just take a allen key to the park and mess around with different locations.
