Scrap yard Question.
I see people posting scrap yard finds on here.I have never been to one.I was kinda thinking about check ones in my area. Now when you go there do they have stuff for sale?Like a bike section?Or is there just random piles of stuff?Or don't they really save stuff to sell. You just have to be there at the right time before it gets scraped? In hopes they will sell it to you.Anyways I really want to start hitting local scrap yards in my area.In hopes of saving old school bmx bikes. From an unspeakable end.Any info would be great.

Re: Scrap yard Question.
my local scrapyard used to sell junk to the public and they used to have bike line ups. I used to check it every day. This guy/owner died from cancer and his family sold it to a bona fide metal scrap co. Whats bad about this is that this new company that took over the location wont sell nothing out of the yard and takes in scrap metal. Its like a punch in the gut. Now i gotta go to boys n girls club to makes sure no old mongooses are dumped there. Theres another place but i forget its name. Gotta go by there too. Making me go all over the place instead down the road.

Re: Scrap yard Question.
I make deliverys to a couple and you just have to slowly get to know them and tell the operators what to look for, now my guys just set aside bikes for me and i either buy them or trade things for the ones i want. One operator actually got very interested in the hobby after a scrapper brought in a bike he had bitd. Remember they take of you so take care of them!!!!

exactly! I go every day, sometimes twice a day to get the good ones. I know them good enough that they let me climb the pile to get ones they already lifted up on the pile.
I asked the guy to take anything BMX off to the side and I would buy it. I ahve to buy some shitty NEXT stuff sometimes just to appease him, but I get ahold of some cool shit that way.
