We would also like to invite anyone with some old school Bmx to just come hang out. Maybe get all the old school bikes in one area and show them off.

Re: ist annual old school race. July 28th Heartland Bmx Topeka, ks

Saturday, July 28, 2012..
Time to dust off the old bikes and get them back out to the track! The 1st Annual O.G. Race will be held this year at Heartland BMX! This should be a fun race to watch! If you think the kids get after it - wait until you see these guys! They are pulling up in a minivans with a "kid on board" sign in the back window and baby carriers in both hands - they have something to prove!!

- "Pro Format" Motos, If we have 8 riders or less, we will run one race after the last main event of the day with NO qualifying rounds. If we have 9 or more, we will run "pro style" motos.
- T-Shirt Trophies 1st-3rd

So if you think you still have it (and your wife gives you permission!) and over 30 and then head out the weekend of July 27th to show off those O.G. Skills!!

Also everybody is welcome to show their old bikes, We can make a spot to put them together for a show kinda feel. Also if you have anything to sell. Bring it. There will be plenty of people there to look and buy things.

I'm going to have to renew my USA BMX membership! I'm planning on racing my '80 Schwinn Sting. I'm also putting together an '83 T/A for my son to race a few motos on that weekend.

I will be there. Not sure if I will try to ride an 80's freestyle Predator, or one of my retro SE bikes.
C'mon on out, y'all! It will be a great full day of racing and hanging with BMX people!

Sign-in are 5:30-7:00 for a Warnicke double point race that day. The O.G. Shoot Out follows the regular racing. I'm going to bring a selection of old school bikes and put them on display. There isn't a show per se, but I'm sure an impromptu showing of old/mid school stuff would be welcomed.

If you havent been to the track in Topeka in a while, Come check it out. Lots of shade for an evening race. Going to be a good team battle between the Gunslingers and Factory Skidmark. They have been working hard on the track. The rented a roller and rolled the entire track. It was fast tonight. The best it has looked in a long while. I hope to see alot of people and ALOT of old/middle school bikes tomorow night.

Re: ist annual old school race. July 28th Heartland Bmx Topeka, ks
I'm trying to get some video of the main to post up. The event was won by Joey "The Outlaw" Brown on my 1979 Diamondback Pro. He had tons of style! Jumped every double there was in the first 2 straights. There were only 3 threadless bikes in the event. A Schwinn Pro Stock, an 09 Retro Quad, and a modern Gunslinger cruiser. The other bike brands represented were TNT, Free Agent, Schwinn, Diamondback, and Boss. It was too cool to see those bikes gettin' it around the track.

Cant wait to see the videos! Dont forget about Kellys mid 80's Kuwi. That was awesome! What a fun event. The flag parade was for the OG riders only, That was coool to see all of them in a flag parade before the race started. Then in the main we rolled out as they introduced use and the bikes we were on. I cant wait for nexts years event. And the shirt trophys were great!

Yeah, the Kuwahara. It was Kelly (wdesign)'s 1983 Kuwi Nova. That was his original race bike. Still has it.
