Re: Picked up one bike, but it will be the start of two?

Well, I went to Paul's house on Saturday and ended up with another bike.  An old friend called wanting to sell his old bike, so we went over to his house.  He rolls out a 1994 Schwinn Qualifier Pro.  Faded, but still a bright tennis ball yellow, covered in random decals.  Gold anno Powelite powerbend bars, polished Pitbull II caliper, 1" threaded Landing Gear forks, and a Redline stem.  Paid a little more than my $10 bike that started this thread, but Less than I would on a date.lol  I hope to add pictures tonight if the weather is right.

Re: Picked up one bike, but it will be the start of two?

Looks like the Schwinn will be first to get worked on at this time.  I had bought a purple parts lot earlier this year that I had forgot about and I had a set of S&M Hoder bars collecting dust, so I bought a few new small parts to throw this together.  Since the rain is not leaving, I plan to swap the stem for a purple DK stem, purple Pitbull II lever, add the Hoder bars, a new set of flourescent yellow ODI Longneck grips, a new cable, and I may also throw on an older S&M Hot Seat.  Not sure, but if I have a Primo Rod that fits, I may swap out the seat post, too.  I struggle to not spend anymore money as I have a set of Purple Sovos hubs and know that I can still get a cheap set of rims to match, but I am trying to just use what I have.

Re: Picked up one bike, but it will be the start of two?

So, a lot of parts have been purchased some are here, some are on the way.

I received a set of Hutch Expert bars that the chrome is in horrible shape, the frame is "in the mail"and in similar shape as the bars, and I need to find a stem before I go any farther.  I'm not a typical Hutch guy, so tell me what would be a good stem for this Pro Raider.  I need purple or black to go with the vision in my head.  I would love to find a Purple DK in great shape or purple Tuf Neck, but black would work too.  Most of the parts I have are purple anno, but the DK stem I have is not in as good of shape as I want for the Hutch.

The Diamondback I got lucky and found a donor Cool Streak and ended up with everything except a fork, seat, and brakes.  Seat is not a big deal, brakes will be Porkchop, but no one has the fork for sale at this time.

As soon as the Pro Raider frame delivers, I will layout my parts and take a few pictures.  I should do a thread called "Rob's growing list of incomplete bike builds" or something like that.  I have been swapping parts on three bikes, collecting parts for the two this thread started with, and I have 2-3 more that I need to start working on soon.  I may also have to start a "I have more than I can do/need" sale thread.lol

Re: Picked up one bike, but it will be the start of two?

Thinking about a CAP bath and then Powdering the Hutch black.  The chrome on the bars are to a point of no return.  I could get them to shine, but they are too pitted.  I will have to see the frame before I will know what kind of shape it is in and if it could be saved.

The Profile stem is tempting, but I really hope to get a DK.  I am watching a black one and can always use my Purple one in a jam, but the left side looks like someone tried to sand the anno off of it.  The TKO looks good, but the shipping cost from their seems a little much.

I was just giving you ideas on stems. Can't the powder/paint guy strip that frame/bars?

Re: Picked up one bike, but it will be the start of two?

If I don't forget, sometime this weekend I plan to lay all my parts out for each individual bike and take a few pictures.  I also need to snap a few pictures of parts that I need to sell.
