Re: I'm baaaack.....with a trick star
I had a white Trickstar in the late 80s that I splatter painted with neon pink and green paint. It was the shizz at the time but I know I would catch some flack if it was done now!LOL!I agree a copper finish would look kick azz! With as much as copper has gone up in the last few years it wouldn't be cheap I am sure.

THIS IS A 90'S RARE GEM - MR. HOFFMAN, MR. HAWK AND MANY OTHER CELLEBRITIES WOULD BE PROUD TO HAVE THIS BIKE AMONG THEIR COLLECTION.

Re: I'm baaaack.....with a trick star
Reading this thread scares me due to the Hutch purists on here! I own a Mustang SVO and understand how crazy purists can get!!
Just got my Duplicolor Copper Paint yesterday to do my Pro Racer. Gonna look killer! Plus it is a racer, not a carpet queen. New stickers are in the mail.
I say if your redoing a bike (anything) make it your own. You have to live with it, no none else. Make it unique and yours.
Good work!
Former 80's racer. Puttin together a HUTCH for races!

What I love about these old bikes is the fact that you can take a used and/or abused bike and make it look new again. I collected older skateboards and hated when one warped or got scratched and dropped value with no way to make it look new again. You lost value and there was nothing that could be done to restore it. A bike can be rewelded, tubes can be replaced, frames can be straightened, repainted or powdered, and new decals can usually be found/made. Heck, there are even a few reproduction parts from the original companies. If the frame set had been NOS or in great shape, I would understand the mentality of the purist, but this frame was not even close. I'm not saying it was horrible, but you all should understand what I am trying to say. I guess the color change is the only thing as a former Chevelle guy that bugs me a little. I would rather have seen the frame repowdered the original color, but the frame was not mine. Like I said above, I am not a fan of the new color, but the frame looks great now. Personally, I like to build my own bikes to make me happy as I am sure hutch-hemi built this one to make him happy. I just hope he throws a bunch of Porkchop and JDB parts on it just to keep the fires burning.
Your WAY off base....1st the OG condition was immaculant...the drops had scratches...cant see the other side but it doesnt look like there was another scratch on it....R U KIDDING ME
and 2nd) Had he kept it OG and built it with era correct parts, there is not 1 person that would have had a gripe...Im more leaneant then most and plan to redo a couple that need it (one is raw from previous owner strip and 1 is getting done in same color to be perfect)
"but the frame was not even close".....REALLY?? He even added the OG ad pic...LOOKS great.....If the other side was trashed he shoulda detailed that to keep the "purists" at bay...![]()

I agree 100% with doing non factory colors to have something different.I just scored 2 89'Masters.They were both chrome[at some point in time]but were flaking and not savable. So I powdered 1 dayglow pink and the other Teal.I would have loved to rechrome them but that was not in my budget and having a good friend who does powder coating it was a no brainer. They came out sweet and now I have 2 89' Masters that will stand out among a line up of others.Even with the new powder when they are finished I will be riding them as I do ALL my bikes.I agree the OP"s bike should have been kept a survivor and traded for a beat one to do the FB color change to but what's done is done and I don't think he should be criticized for it.Looking forward to seeing it when completed.

Immaculate: 1. absolutely clean, neat, and free from blemishes 2. showing faultless perfection.
From your word usage, so I am not kidding you. The frame was not immaculate. It was in great shape and the finish was decent for the age of the bike, but it is his bike to do what he wants with, including swapping colors. I also said that I would rather have seen the bike repowdered the original color, but once again, it is his bike.
The way I look at the swapping for someone else's frame set if he wanted to restore one thinking is why take the chance of buying/trading for a frame that may have more damage/problems to fix?
Why does everyone get so worked up about what others do with their bikes anyway? They are just bikes. In a few decades, there will only be a few who will value these bikes. As this group of older (30+) pass away, only a few of the young guys on here and a few of our children will care. My son will likely sell anything I have left for little to nothing just to get rid of it. Maybe the next restuarant chain will need some wall art and these perfect carpet queens will find a new home instead of ending up in a scrap yard.

Ever see those videos of people waiting in line for 2-3 days for the new iPhone / iPad / XBox PS3 game only to destroy it right in front of all the other people waiting in line , usually posted on youtube ? I think if someone took a Hutch TS survivor and crushed it , on video it might knock some of you people back to reality . I have always managed to piss people off , especially those that take themselves way too serious , so what's a few more people on here? ![]()

No...you just described NOS
..How can you say great and then decent in the same sentence? We were always just speaking of the finish. You obviously dont trade for a broken frame and there are liers out there or it is "hidden". Almost all people here are honest and trustworthy but you have a small point.....There are purists in any hobby...its just a bike or a car or etc...

No, I listed the definition of immaculate.
NOS aka new old stock does not mean perfect either.
Great and decent do not mean without flaw, the paint was great except for the decent dropouts.
The trade problem is you never know what you are getting, but know what you have/had.
I'm just stirring the pot, so don't take me too seriously.
