Next category, "Freestyle" It's not really my thing,By the time that movement started, I had a 340 duster and was chasing tail.
It's kinda hard to get dates when your still riding a bike... I'm not trying to be hard on the ladies, but it's true... That said, I have to say that the faded Hutch Trickstar was an awesome bike... I don't know who's it was, but that thing really intrigued me. way cool...
Got to give Rividude Props on his bike too, I was amazed when I first saw it. It was great meeting you Christian, You have a cool
personality and I enjoyed your enthusiasm, I can see why your so well liked.
Oh and by the way, This goes out to the guy who wanted a picture of his kid next to it and just walked over to my Boss Cruiser
and moved it out of the way to get a better pic. I know your kid is racing for Redline, But next ask me before you touch any of my
bikes!!!! If it hadn't been for your kid standing there, I would have come unglued. I don't think the gentlemen in question is a member here, But if you are, just ask next time and I'll be happy to oblige you.
I know I'm a little OCD about my builds and even got a funny comment from a 13 year old about wiping finger prints off my Schwinn, but these bikes are investments, not toys to me. I'd also like to think and did mention to the 13 year old that all of us are helping to preserve the history of this sport and I'm sure he will understand later in life.
I build my bikes with the intention of making them look brand new because that's how I remember seeing them at my local bike shop. I could never afford any of this stuff as a kid and was overjoyed when I got my first real BMX bike as a kid... It was a Robinson and I'm sorry to say that I gave it away to a buddy that needed a bike for his kid.
This hobby reminds me of the best days of my life!!! When all we needed was our friends and two tubes that held air!!!
Mix in some Cherry Kool-Aid,Balogne sandwiches and some lawn darts and that was living... LOL
Thanks man... I hopw wwe get to hang out again somtime... I loved your cruisers... And yes it is OCD when you were telling me that by using Eagle 1 Tire shine with a Brush... You can scrub all the way down into the treads of bmx tires to make them shine... LOL
I always leave the horrible looking powder in the treads to show they are NOS...
And I know what you mean by your bike being moved... I am too cheap to buy stands so you say that my bikes were leaning againnst Mikes (2dr's) popp up tent... And 2 kids come over and start flipping the fork standers up and down on my pink and my black beauties... They did it so fas the first time I could not say anything... Then while I am trying to be a nice guy talking to them he does it again... again so quickly and while I am responding to a question I did not have a chance to say anything... So now my concrntration on his questions are totally blown... I went for being excited to tell him about OG 87 GT's to waiting for him to do it again... Since I can see the 14 year old punk still eyeballing the forks... I am responding to another question to him and his friend and he starts to reach... I SNAPPED... HEY!!!
"Don't touch the bikes" He snapes his little claw back since he was obviously not listening to my response to his question anyway looking suprized. He says a classic then "O is this yours?" My minnd went right to how stupid this question is. Not only alm I talking to him about MY bike but what??? Does he figure if it was not mine that I would just let him molest sombody elses show bikes? Little bastared brood... I can oly blame his parents for not teaching him better... And YES i know he was only a kid...
But that is reality hitting him in the face... Let him pull that on my 35K Rivi or mt 50K hot rod at a car show....
I would grabem by the arm and parade him around till I found his folks and letum have it... I did that awhile back at a show where this man and woman with 3 kids were letting the kids run between cars slapping them... climbing IN THEM??? and just acting like its nothing... That same way they let their kids run around in a crowded restaurant while you are trying to eat... Some of my friends have 30K paint jobs on their cars... and were not around... I laid into this woman at first... He tried to back her up till I stood up and walked over to him... My frined came and calmed me down... But GEEZE...
Don't be that parent guys... ![]()
Oh yeah... where was I... The TrickStar is Mike's also... Super cool faded Candy Painjob... OG for sure... Gotta Love it...
And where is Carlos??? Has he joined up yet???
Can't wait to do it again...!!! Except for the rain of course...

Great idea Justin, If you have them made up, I will be glad to display them. LOL Ha HA Ha. Just think of what it would save in court fees alone!!!!!!!!! Very funny dude." I knew I'd get nailed for that comment ". I had a blast at the show and that incident didn't ruin my day. I've got bikes at the house that never get cleaned and are a mess, but the ones I brought with me are the Hotrod carpet queens....
Next year I'm bringing the Kool-Aid,Bologne sandwiches and lawn darts... LOL
Next year??? Lets set a Date to meet at the track in Peachtree City... There is a track... A big Pavillion... A Full Vert/Street bike park... We could get together and Chill out for awhile there... ![]()

Heys guys I would like to thank everyone personally who came out with thier bikes, I was there to watch my son race and getting a chance to see and take some pics the old GTs, Hutchs, Haros, Redlines, and Goodwill Skyway (that still blows me away!!) made the Saturday perfect, dispite the rain.
I look forward to next year and maybe by then I can contribute some whips of my own, if I can stay focus on one bike for long enough.
Thanks again you guys rock!!

Re: GA BMX Old School Show is on- GA SC AL TN NC and FL, and whoever else!
Hey Rividude, Thanks for the compliments on my cruisers... I busted my hump to get ready for the show and I guess it all paid off.
It's hard to explain this hobby to people who aren't into it. Having all you guys comment on my builds was very cool and also validates my reasoning for doing it...
I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one that got a little testy about my bikes..... Great story LOL
.
As far as the tires go, they looked pretty rough before hand and that's what I did when I was a kid... I always took really
good care of my bikes because they were few and far between. I'm willing to take any and all ribbing for my actions,as a matter
of fact, I look forward to it... Believe me, this isn't my only hobby and I catch crap for it all the time... LOL:lol:![]()

It was great hanging out with everyone and maybe we could get together before next year. I think a park that has a pavilion is a great idea... Not just for the rain, but also for shade...
Maybe we can get a BBQ together before it gets too hot...
Later dude, J

How true is this statement? I've just stopped mentioning it to people... takes too long to explain and afterward they still think I'm nuts ![]()
I know it's not exactly central/convenient for most folks, but I'm going to contact the Cartersville downtown development authority (it's called something like that) to see if we could set up some bikes on one of the wide downtown sidewalks. They put on a car show with live music once a month all summer long. As many of us are proof, lots of BMX guys are car guys too and vice versa. It would probably need to be open to any vintage bikes.. a few of the older guys I've talked to at these monthly car shows have talked about some vintage 50's and 60's bikes they own.
Cartersville is about halfway between Atlanta and Chattanooga (or 20 miles north of Kennesaw/Marietta).
Anyone have any interest in that? If I can find time to work it out, I'll post about it and invite everyone.
Justin

Re: GA BMX Old School Show is on- GA SC AL TN NC and FL, and whoever else!
I'd be up for a get-together or a BBQ any time.
Just a suggestion, a bunch of my gearhead buddies and I have been getting together for breakfast just to "benchrace" every couple of weeks, we post it on a similar message board and get people from all over metro ATL. How about a morning meet-up in a park or even a shopping center parkinglot? Doesn't have to be a "breakfast" but maby just meet up in the morning for a couple of hours, drink coffee, b.s., check out some bikes, and if things get realy crazy........ride some bikes!?!
sorry skunkworks...couldn't help myself.![]()
