I hate seeing anything re-powdered that DIDN'T NEED to be re-powdered.

Frames for sale with the chain still attached, all balled up and scratching the chainstays. I mean, chain breakers aren't that expensive. Anyone who works on bikes should have one...
Please don't let me buy any bikes from you. I have an addiction. You wouldn't want to be an enabler, would you?

That's some of the pain I put myself in when the chain snapped on me today.... I'll take reading online forums and putting up posters (in my office, though, not my bedroom).
What chain....I just bought a cheapo KMC, and am having my doubts.
I don't know what brand it was - came stock on my Swobo is about all I know. I threw it in a trash can after I peeled myself up off the pavement. My chain had been rusted and relubed a couple of times, it had tensioners to keep it nice and tight and I heard it creak a few times, but never imagined it would snap (sheared right through a link). Never in my life have I snapped a link in half like that, I don't think you need to worry about your KMC.

I'm thinking my bikes just hate me... I got that flat in April, didn't ride a bike til last week. That Pro Thunder I had at the BBQ, I could feel the pedals bending under my feet as I rode it over to the judging area... Then today, my Swobo rips up my arm, my leg, both hands, my face, scratched and bent my glasses broke a tooth AND I have to shell out for a new chain. Okay, technically the concrete I landed on did most of the damage, but I'm definitely sick of seeing that bike for today. I've been sitting in my office, watching it mock me. Oh yeah, did I mention I had to walk into my office building all busted and bloody and tell my boss to go handle the wiring contractors we were expecting while I cleaned myself off? That all happened too. Stupid bicycles and their chains. Stupid stupid stupid chains!

Oh wait! thread is getting better
each old and new school has it's own pro's and con's. everyone rides differently and for different reasons, I love 87-88 pfts and i also think aaron ross sunday fundays are the tight and wish i had a grape soda or an orange crush.. closed mindedness gets you nowhere.

Star levers, even the rx-3s that I now like I would of never put on my bike in 87 because it would of been like putting honda rims on my acura... see what i'm saying? Now if you take into consideration a pro compe/ pro compe team but most around me got a pft or pp. Even the performer with mags, couldn't catch me dead riding.. vertigo... detours.. they were the cheap bikes. I like them now for their LOOKS but in 87 trust me you did not want a dyno detour over a pft and seems same holds true today although both are still cool to ownReally depends where you grew up. Around here GT's were way overpriced, while you could get a Dyno with roughly the same parts for much less. Everyone had dynos, the only kids that had GT's around here were the rich kids..... You know the kind that cry when they scrape their knee or get everything they want by bitching and moaning to their parents.
lol.. yea ok. So a 14-15 year old gives a care how over priced something is???? how about I never bitched and moaned but I did get only a's and b's in school and never gave my mother a single problem ever. Regardless your saying the same thing.. the dyno was the poor man's/kids gt.
Yes we do care how much it cost, some of us didn't have mommy and daddy that bought us bikes
I personally mowed lawns and raked leaves around the neighborhood all summer to buy my own bike as my parents only gave me enough to buy a cheap Walmart bike that worked from point A to point B because in their eyes it has the same function as a PFT or PC, 2 wheels, brakes and cranks. Some of us weren't spoiled and by no means were we poor, so before you make an ignorant thoughtless comment think first.
Dynos weren't a poor mans GT (although I'm sure many people would/will argue that) just as a Chevy isn't a poor mans GMC. Same parent company, parts, ideas etc.... But they both have their own style and differences enough so that they are distinctly different to the consumer. Sure Dyno didn't have as many flagship models as GT, sure anything below a detour was a bit of a battle tank and had cheaper end parts, sure they weren't as hyped as a GT but they weren't junk and you could only get them at the LBS and for comparability you got more bang for your buck, but thats if cost matters to you, silly people that think about cost when buying something ![]()

Whatever man. Always someone who wants to say someone was spoiled , etc.. you wanted me to work at microsoft? I was a good kid, no problems, got bike. That doesn't mean spoiled etc... when I started working I was spending all my money trying to buy amps and woofers when i was 18 so i feel you if you were 17, 18. but not all of us was. And I never said dyno's were junk but in 1987 there was no way you could sit there and compare an 87 PFT to a Detour. The brake setup, parts, frame composition. You wasn't just buying a sticker kit. yea you can do tricks on either but I wouldn't of been caught dead with mags in 87 for instance.. each his own... BTW, Chevy is poor mans cadillac... cmon man, if you take offense to that and think im calling you poor grow up. one bike was 200 plus tax, one was 600.. i get it. then there were those with huffys..

Re: Any bikes you're just sick of seeing?
I had a dyno pro compe team that I worked all summer and saved for, ordered it from Trend and at the time I think it was the same price? as the team model gt freestyle bike. I was 15 years old and it was a 88 model.
Just the dyno had better geo for flat, back wheel tricks were massive, all scuffing and rolling back wheel tricks, and the dyno was the bike then.
Next I got a PFT f&f and swapped all the parts over, was a good bike too, maybe felt just a bit short.
Both good bikes, I didn't see one brand as better than the other, never thought it was meant to be, just different style bikes. Both team model dyno and gt were good and then they both had cheap low end models.
